That could just be from the opening episode. The original series had a multiple-episode pilot that doubled into a full-length VHS release. In that they started on the planet as cubs. It's possible that after that they reach New Thundarra, just like in the original.

I like that the original took place on a post apocalyptic earth. That was kind of cool

It was fun when they did the sword of omens versus excalibur episode too

Am I the only one that noticed one of 'em seemed to be missing? And my memories of 80's cartoons is usually pretty shot.

Too bad a mature-themed movie didn't precede this series. I'll have to hope for a follow-up, and/or M-rated videogame.

Ninja Scroll/Thundercats hybrid movie...oh my, that would be sweet.

Let's see, there was Lion-O, of course, Panthro, Cheetarah, Tigra, WilyCat & WilyKit, and Snarf, if you're counting the originals only.

I saw them all, heck I even saw Joga. Well, I could be wrong. I assumed the big cat was Panthro, since I didn't see a traditional version of him.

Anime?? Oh well. I'm willing to give it a shot since I loved this series so much as a kid. I actually didn't see anyone that resembled Pathro but maybe they changed his look completely? Snarf looked like something out of Pokemon or Dragon Ball Z so that kind of sucked but I never really liked Snarf to begin with. Hopefully is voice won't be annoying like in the 80s. I wasn't thrilled that they used Anime for the recent Transformers series over the past 8-10years (Armada, Energon, etc) but still the sotry lines were decent but still these did not love up to the original 80s cartoon! Overall I'm just not a huge Anime fan but I'm not completely against it. Another reason I'll give this a shot is because of the new Masters of the Universe cartoon they released in like 2002. I actually ended up liking that better than the 80s Masters of the Universe series in alot of ways but of course I still have a love for the original series since I grew up on it. I'll end this on a positive note: THUNDER...THUNDER...THUNDERCATS...HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! 8)
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Psst: the original 80s Transformers was animated in japan.

But it didn't really have much of a cliche anime style, especially when compared to this new one, so it's a mute point

Thank you.

I should have been more clear on my feelings with Anime. Sorry guys. :(

I didn't see Panthro in the trailer, but I've seen a promotional image of him.
EDIT: http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/01/26/thund ... n-network/

Hmm, I will definitely check this out. I'm not a fan of remakes, but this doesn't look too bad. PLUS IT'S THUNDERCATS! :D
