Multi-platform Games That Were Better On GameCube?
Re: Multi-platform Games That Were Better On GameCube?
Soul Calibur II, obviously. Metal Gear Solid...though some people consider Twin Snakes to be an abomination.

Same here.darthmunky wrote:I got all my multi-platform games on Xbox but now that some Xbox originals are not backwards compatible, I need to buy and re-buy some of them for GameCube. Time Splitters 2 is the main one I want right now.
And in the third Rayman game, you could connect the GBA version with the GC version and unlock levels in the GC version.

Gamecube games not worth getting ports of Mortal kombat game, mega-man both versions, sonic dx, and viewjoe 1 or 2.

Funnest, I'd wager. Better, not so sure. I mean, it's my preferred version of the game,Zerodash wrote:Soul Calibur II, obviously..
but Link is a bit of an arse, isn't he? By that, you can be walloping his mush off, and
then boom, he hips tosses you randomly and somehow you're off on a ringout.

And of course, those people are wrong, wrong, wrong. Of course, Resident Evil 4 is vastly superior on the Gamecube; the PS2 version is a disaster. In fact, the same applies to Viewtiful Joe 1/2, and Killer7. Also, the GC version of Skies of Arcadia ran much smoother and had more content than the DC version. Everyone is correct in saying that Sonic games were better on the Gamecube (Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic DX); I have compared the various versions, and the 'Cube comes out on top each time. Finally, put my vote in as well for the GC version of Soul Calibur 2.Zerodash wrote:Soul Calibur II, obviously. Metal Gear Solid...though some people consider Twin Snakes to be an abomination.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes took a lot of the challenge out of the original, replaced the vocal cast, and recut many of the scenes to be faux-Matrix wire-fu crap.lisalover1 wrote:And of course, those people are wrong, wrong, wrong.Zerodash wrote:Soul Calibur II, obviously. On a technical level, it is an upgrade, but I feel like a lot of the soul was lost in translation.
Re: Multi-platform Games That Were Better On GameCube?
Twin Snakes is far more of a redux in my eyes than an updated port or anything, they are vastly different experiences. My vote goes for the original.
The Cube does beat out some of the other ports, though I had no problem with RE4 on the PS2... but yeah you could tell it wasn't as good.
This reminds me of Grandia 2, supposedly the PS2 port was pretty terrible compared to the original DC release, with added lag issues and such. Haha, that's the only way I've played it, so it'd be interesting to check out on the DC version sometime.

I still prefer the Gamecube version; I played it first, and I simply couldn't go back to the PS1 version after playing it.the7k wrote:Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes took a lot of the challenge out of the original, replaced the vocal cast, and recut many of the scenes to be faux-Matrix wire-fu crap.lisalover1 wrote:And of course, those people are wrong, wrong, wrong.Zerodash wrote:Soul Calibur II, obviously. Likely a control issue. Going from a MGS2 control scheme to MGS1's is like going from RE4 back to RE2.lisalover1 wrote: I still prefer the Gamecube version; I played it first, and I simply couldn't go back to the PS1 version after playing it.
