I'm wondering because I'm thinking of buying some inline skates (I have a fondness for wheels), but there's no need to make the thread that specific. Advice on what to look for is welcomed but it would be nice to have skating stories and other comments here.
Also, anyone ever try skating and tagging (like in the DC game)?
Ivo.
Anyone here into skating?
Re: Anyone here into skating?
Skating Yes. Tagging private property no.
Inline skates not hard to learn. Its not hard to stand on as it might seem. If you tried regular skates, then inline is easy.

As long as you listen to some kickin' tunes while doing it it's okay right?CRTGAMER wrote:Tagging private property no.
Joking of course.
Re: Anyone here into skating?
The tagging part was a joke
I ice-skated a few times and although I didn't really "learn" it was enjoyable, so I want to try out in-line with wheels. I think it is not advisable to buy "online" or in general without testing them out (including, apparently, standing on them in the shop for 10 to 15 min)... That is not very practical, sadly!

Re: Anyone here into skating?
I used to between the ages of 12 and 15. I was a fruit-booter (aggressive inline) as the skateboarders affectionately called it. It was pretty easy. I didn't care for doing crazy tricks much, I just liked doing all sorts of grinds. I was never very good and only did it because I could never ollie straight on a skateboard.

My brother was a fruit booter like Arlo Eisenberg and friends. I rode a plank and still do.

Been on skates since I was two, playing hockey. Skating feels pretty natural to me. I haven't played hockey in a long time, though.

Makes me wish I didn't stop playing hockey.

I haven't heard the term "fruit booter" since I worked at a skate park; bout 5 years ago. Fond memories, even when I had to put up with the Mirra brothers. Just kidding, they aren't as big of jerks as people think.NathanBarnatt wrote:My brother was a fruit booter like Arlo Eisenberg and friends. I rode a plank and still do.
I still skateboard from time to time on a 1995 Double Vision Groholski (google it kids), but only do the inline if I'm playing hockey. Mission all the way for me when it comes to hockey skates. Affordable, durable, reliable, and easy to maintain.
Hey, as long as you're outside and getting some exercise, doesn't really matter what pair of skates you wear (unless they're rollerblades. You'll get guff for that).
Re: Anyone here into skating?
I don't like skating. Too much speed, too much chance of falling, and too much risk of injury for those of us with external genitalia. Though I'm sure road-rashed boobs aren't fun, either.
