Sega CD Model 2 - No Power, but the Fuse is Good

Post by OmegaMaximum »

I don't know what happened, but my Sega CD Model 2 won't power up anymore. Obviously the first thing I checked was the cable connections, and they're fine, then I cleaned the contacts, they were pretty dirty, but still nothing. So lastly I checked the fuse, I'd already replaced it once, and after putting in a new one, still nothing. I've tried all I can think of, perhaps someone here knows. It was working though, I've been playing through Lunar: Eternal Blue, and to my knowledge no one has hooked up the system but me, so I assume no one reversed the power supplies, besides the Sega CD power supply I have is labeled just in case. So, I don't know, but I hope you guys can help, I really don't want to start Lunar over from the beginning, like 40 hours in, don't want to start again. Thanks.

Edit: Forgot to add, I have tried another Genesis, but that didn't work either. I also know that my PS for the SCD is good because it powers up my Model 1 Genesis just fine, the other 2 are Model 2's.

How long has it been since you've last played it?
And have you checked for any loose ribbons or wires?

I played it last week, and I checked the wires also. All of the external connections are nice and tight, and internally the wires for the fuse are soldered securely. I also checked the ribbon for the CD drive, it's in all the way on both the board and the lens unit. The small ribbon inside the drive unit also looks to be in properly. Thanks for the quick reply by the way.

Edit: All right, after my buddy brought over his multimeter we solved the problem. Seems I had the luck of getting 4 bad fuses in a row, go figure. Thanks for everyone who tried anyway!
