Just because they don't have a typical system doesn't mean they weren't developed in Japan, and thereby JRPG's.

I have no idea what compelled me to even be over at this forum, looking at this post...

Fire Emblem and Advance Wars say hi!

So naturally I want to play some FFT and TO, but I need to find them first.

Advance Wars? RPG?

Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Dragon Age: Origins

But really I'll always vastly prefer JRPG's.

Who here said those games you bolded weren't developed in Japan? He was referring to the genre known as "JRPG", not specifically RPGs that were developed in Japan. Some people argue that the term "JRPG" is wrong, but really... probably everyone here knows what it meant when someone says JRPG. Pier Solar, for example, would be a JRPG, but it wasn't developed in Japan at all. Heck, the name SNK is well displayed on the cover of Crystalis. They are a well known Japanese company.

Considering what you wrote, I'm thinking you misinterpreted the original post.

I don't play Pokemon games, so forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong here. But aren't Pokemon games played in the traditional JRPG style?

I'd consider it more of an turn-based strategy RPG or an action RPG than a traditional JRPG. Granted, it has elements of a JRPG, but it's got enough differences that I wouldn't call it as such.

Exactly. I meant the style of gameplay.
