favorite other handhelds
I'm talking about non-gameboy/DS/Gamegear/PSP etc. I think off hand I would say the green Mattel football game, and I use to play the Power Pigskin football to death, though doubt that would be at the top.
Re: favorite other handhelds
I'm getting a lot of play time out of my Nomad. I prefer the Dingoo A320 to the GP2X WIZ tho both are really great for homebrew and ports of classic games. I keep the A320 in my jacket pocket. I finally got a GG-Pro flashcart from Tototek and I'm playing through some great fan-translations on my GameGear. UMPCs are pretty capable gaming machines for older stuff. My OQO 01+ does SNES better than any of the other emulator-capable portables I've tried when the controls are mapped to it's keyboard and it's held like a controller. I had a pile of Tiger Handhelds, but the lack of proper sprite movement and scrolling really made gameplay hit-and-miss as far as movement and timing are concerned. I had a Tetris Jr. keychain that was pretty sweet. There was some great games on my TI85 Calculator. I can play DOS CGA and text-based games on my HP 200LX and I installed Linux on my HP Jornada (I only put Rogue on it so-far but have big plans for it)
I'd love to get a Pandora or a more recent UMPC.
None of them really compare to the handhelds you said to ignore tho.

I enjoyed the Pokewalker. Does that count?

I really love my neo geo pocket colour and my game gear. I also really like my Pokemon Mini console, which most people overlook.
I really want a Lynx, Wonderswan and maybe someday a turboexpress and nomad. A PSP is on the cards too, but they're a little pricy at the minute
I don't know much about all these G2PX Wiz and Tapwave Zodiac stuff - Are they only used for emulation? Why not just use the PSP for that, isnt it more powerful and better supported?
Anyhow, I love handhelds, I've even thought about getting an N Gage or Gizmondo, just to try them. Even I can't convice myself to try an R Zone or Game.com though - there doesn't seem to be anything playable on them at all.
I think the original post was more interested in stuff like the Tiger LCD handhelds - I enjoyed a Sonic one I played as a kid. The LCD games and game and watch games and whatnot never keep my attention nowadays.

I absolutely adore my Neo Geo Pocket Color. I find myself picking it up all the time to play Match of the Millenium or Puzzle Bobble Mini or Metal Slug: 1st Mission or Dark Arms or etc. I just find all the games I own on the Neo Geo Pocket fantastic and dig the incredibly long battery life. It's also got imho the most colorful and vivid display of any handheld without some sort of backlight. Oh, and the clickity clackity control stick is downright addictive to play games with. Especially the pocket fighters.
I also occasionally like to play with my Atari Touch Me in private.
