Forum Downtime Scheduled for this morning.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Did I influence the forum message during the down time?
It reminded me of it, but we've actually used it before ;)

Now that everything appears to be changed over, I've got a stupid question.

I don't know from web stuff, so I'm wondering what exactly these server changes accomplish?

We're on a brand new machine that's got twice the CPUs and RAM.
It should keep the load times faster (and maybe, just maybe avoid the downtimes) if nothing else.

When waiting for DNS to get updated, is there a way to access the forums quicker by using the IP address? It doesn't seem to work for me. That is, typing in http://50.22.175.116/forum. I'm guessing that multiple sites are hosted on the same server and that it needs the name in order to route to the correct one.

I noticed that when I connect via the VPN to work, it goes to the wrong site (old one) but once I disconnect, it works fine. It seems my company's DNS servers have not been updated yet.

Sometimes I get in and sometimes I am still getting the downtime message. Very strange. Probably my cache or something.

Glad the Forums are working again! I started getting EMails on "Watched Topics"; I never saved any thread as a watched item. I guess during to server move, Topics I posted on became Watched with an EMail notify. Ah well shows how much time I spent on the Racketboy Forum. interesting looking back on some of the older posts, spotted one concerning the N64 FZero disc. In the process of deleting, Holy Crap 64 pages worth!

EDIT
Okay all Watched pages deleted, checking to see if this post becomes watched.

EDIT2
Crap still watched, fixing my preferences.

EDIT3
Okay fixed, maybe my Preferences got changed during the server move? Or maybe my posts were always notification on before, not sure. Just never got an EMail before. Glad I unmarked those 64 pages worth before I got a ton of EMail notifications.
