Where can I browse movies?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Where can I browse movies?

Post by RCBH928 »

ok,
maybe the topic is a bit vague
but for the longest time I have been trying to find a website, software where can I browse movies by thier release dates in theaters

For example,
I want to see what was in theaters in April 1989
and I would love to be able to browse by a movie's poster because its much easier than reading titles and trying to remember which movie was that

iTunes store gets n my nerves as it lists movies by thier dvd release date as far as i can figure out

Not exactly what you want, but close:

http://www.imdb.com/year/

Wikipedia is good for this, too. They have all the years listed.

For example, here is 1997.

Scroll all the way down to see monthly releases.

Also not an ideal solution, but try

http://www.boxofficemojo.com

More specifically, try this:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/schedule/? ... -28&p=.htm

They don't seem to have a good way to browse by release date, but you can manually edit the date in the url to get theater release dates in that general vicinity. I think they're U.S. release dates, though, and it's probably not an exhaustive list.

seems there is no solution for what i want
which is amazing for this day and age, seems a very obvious thing to do

thanks for your suggestion thet are not solution but a usable alternative

IMDB listmost popular movies of the year, which is still interisting to me
but not what i want

@hashiria
how do you find the listing of the movies on wikipedia?
what did you search for?

@Limewater
you put in a good alternative too
I like how you used the exact example I presented above :P

there is very few movies released in 1989
either they didnt release much back then or thier database is missing a lot of information

the thing that seems to be missing is browsing by movie poster
there is not even a picture next to the movie's title

maybe someone else would like to suggest other laternatives

Just go to wikipedia/google and type the desired year + "in film"
For example, "1997 in film"

Cool, nice tip. I didn't realize wikipedia had these sorts of entries.
