I know this is an incredibly minor complaint/observation I have, but hey.
I've been buying a lot of DVDs lately, and I've noticed something kinda odd. For many, I've noticed the shrinkwrap kinda 'sticking' to the spines. It's hard to get off and leaves a weird residue. I notice that they're usually on movies with those oh-so-wonderful 'eco-cases'.
Anybody else notice this?

Yes this happens sometimes from the heat of the packing process. I just use a utility knife and I'm good to go.

Yeah, I've noticed this too actually. And I really don't like those eco cases. They're a pain in the ass to take the discs out with. If you try to take it out "in the air" the case warps and it's really annoying. You have to lay the case down on a flat surface than take the disc out.

I've considered just replacing them all, but I'm not sure I have enough extra DVD cases to do that.Ziggy587 wrote:Yeah, I've noticed this too actually. And I really don't like those eco cases. I've had this issue with Wii cases with the eco design as well. The spine on my case for Red Steel 2 looks aweful.

Eco friendly cases just all around. It's like my dvd or bluray is being protecting by a thin ppiece of paper.

Re: shrinkwrap on dvds lately
I came up with a solution to prevent the shrinkwrap from sticking to your DVD spine. This is only a preventative method. It doesn't fix DVD cases you've already opened.
First, take an x-acto knife. Cut a line through the plastic wrap along the clam-shell opening edge of the dvd case. This does not harm the plastic case unless you press way too hard. DO NOT try to cut the plastic wrap along the spine.
Second, gently fold back the shrink wrap like cellphone butterfly wings behind the spine of your new DVD case.
Third, in one quick motion jerk the shrinkwrap away from the spine. If you've done this right the shrinkwrap is completely untorn and there is no leftover shrinkwrap stuck to the spine of your DVD case.
Viola!

I've had DVD cases that are cheaply wrapped with this issue for years.
