No that's not the point at all. That allows you to enjoy those old consoles in the best possible clarity. This guy said "But i just want to know if the ps3 makes ps1 games look decent enough to play again" implying that they aren't worth playing because of the dated graphics. That's why people are so riled up. It's that same old bullshit we (as retrogamers) hear all the time. "why do you want to play an old game, when it looks like shit?". If poor graphics bother you to the point of avoiding playing a game, then this place really isn't the right forum for you. I know it's a crude analogy, but it's like going to a forum where they appreciate the larger figure, and making an account going "ugh, these fatties need to lose some weight, if they lost some weight I would totally be into them".

Ok good enough analogy I guess. But to be honest, PS1 games have aged the worst

I'm not talking about looking impressive, I'm talking about looking pleasing to the eye. 16-bit games are timeless :D

What the frick?

Okay, you really are lame. I recommend that you don't play video games at all. Period. Games are about having fun and enjoying the experience. If you want pretty graphics, go watch a movie like Avatar.

If you can't enjoy a FUN game like Ridge Racer or Symphony of the night because they look like shit, then don't even play games. Stick with your fads like Madden and Rock Band.

I'll enjoy playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Rayman, Mega Man X4, X5, Suikoden, Gradius Gaiden, Raiden II, Einhander, Thunder Force V, R-Type I/II, etc.

I agree, but so have a lot of the early 3D games/consoles. I still enjoy playing PS1 games though. There are some pretty awful 16-bit games out there as well don't forget.

Just to clarify, I don't want this guy to leave the forums or anything like that. I'm just a bit flabbergasted at the insinuation that a games visual quality affects it's playability. Just look at FFXIII, arguably one of the better looking games of the current generation, but a piss-poor game to actually play.

Graphics are nothing compared to gameplay.

I actually misread his final answer. I thought he said that he will be getting some PS1 titles. That's why I defended him (see my original answer that I said he might have previously owned the games).

Dude, you don't know what you are missing. Action and FPS games might have aged, but sooooo many excellent platform/fighting and RPG games on the PS1.

Agreed on what you said Niode, but I still think the PS1 should have focused a bit more on 2D games which looked excellent with that hardware. And I did like FF13, because of the gameplay and not for the graphics

Then they may have sold as well as the Saturn did!

I strongly disagree that PS1 games have aged badly, including the 3D ones. In fact, I sort of see them as simpler, more refined versions of many of the 3D games we get these days. They are sort of like

2600:SNES or Genesis::PS1:PS3 or 360.

There's something to be said for rudimentary graphics and simplicity. It is easier to hide bad gameplay behind flashy modern engines, it is much harder to do this on the PS1.

More refined? My main problem with PS1 games is how bad they control. They still hadn't found the best ways to control 3D gameplay, not to mention the lack of analogue controls in most games. The N64 just did it better (well....Nintendo's games at least).

Look I love the PS1 as well. I have plenty fond memories playing Crash 3 and many other games on my cousin's PS1. I even have about 12 PSone classics on my PS3. But even though most of them are gems, some of them haven't aged well in game/level design and control wise (I'm looking at you Crash 1 and Spyro).

In a few years his question is going to be

I just want to know if anyone can tell me if the PS6 actually make PS3 games look better?

I still enjoy PS1 on actual hardware or by PSP.
PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details

First of all I'm not lame. I will give you and the rest of the people here what I am talking about. All the games that you mentioned were all 2d games and they still hold up great. Try playing a game like critcom or fighting force and you will know what I mean about games that are hard to play in this generation.
Now let me explain to everyone what I feel and hopefully everyone can get off my back or see what I mean.
See I was a hardcore gamer and collector. I had at one point over 150 to 200 games of each of my systems. NES,SNES,GENESIS,GAMEBOY/GBA,GAMECUBE,SATURN,GAMECUBE,DREAMCAST AND PS1 AND 2. But as time went on I began to find out that I was a hoarder and I relized that I was not playing any of these games and I decided that I will sell everything and have money in the bank and just have a ps3 and a wii for the kids. It feels good not to collect anymore and once I found out that the ps3 can play ps1 games and people were telling me that the games look better on the ps3 I got curious.
Now I love the ps1. It has such a great library and some games are cult classics. But I want to start dishing out money for ps1 games and play the games for a day or two just for memories and once I start i wont stop buying old games again and I dont want to play that record again.
I'm sorry if I offended anyone on this post. I was just asking true gamers who knew about this stuff and seeing if anyone knew. I am just going to stick with buying current games and yes I know that this is a retro site and I do love retro games. I do have a modded xbox and on friday's I play mame and nes, genesis, and snes games just for memories.
I'm sorry again if I upset anyone but I just don't want to buy old games and play old gems unless it's really worth the money. I just think if I spend 20 or so dollars on ps1 titles these are games I already played or save that money and get games like killzone 3.
