Toys-R-Us: Sealed game missing it's contents

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Thank that just gets to me is that fact that both games were sealed when I bought them. Meaning the pilferer took the time to reseal the game after having gutted its contents.
Someone may have just returned them to some really inattentive employees.

i've heard stories that people can reseal game cases with a hair dryer and if you carefully remove the plastic wrap around it. then to re wrap the plastic on the case and use the hair dryer to melt the plastic back onto it.

damn evil bastards.

These sound like reseals/shrinkwrap machine jobs to me. I'm sorry to hear you had such a hassle to deal with.

Wow, just today I bought DMC 3 SE (the non greatest hits version to boot) from Gamestop only to find out just now that the game isn't in the case. I'm going to take it back in tomorrow, hopefully things will turn out alright.

Well, followup:

Went to TRU today to return the 'game'. Went up to the register and told him I wanted to return the game. Guy takes the game, scans it and gives me a refund.

Me: Seriously?
Guy: What?
Me: Thats it?
Guy: Huh?
Me: You realize the game is open, and you're just going to let me return it?
Guy: Not necessary, just picked out the wrong game, right?
Me: No. *reaches over and grabs the game* It's because of stuff like you that I ended up with this garbage *opens the game to show the blank cdr*
Guy: Umm, wheres the game sir?
Me: Thats what I'd like to know, your store sold me this.
Guy: Umm... hang on.

Guy gets his manager. Manager promises to enforce the rules better, gives me a $10 giftcard.

All ended well, but still mad that the guy didn't even check the game. The board right behind him clearly stated no returns for open merchandise, and that all opened ones must be exchanged for the same product.

I win, but bah, I still feel like an ass for ripping on the guy not doing his job.

Scoreboard -
TRU: 1
Me: 1

It's a 3 way tie at Racket Thunderdome. Everyone is neck and neck. It's time for Rackattack sudden death overtime!

Seriously though, glad you're sorted, but yeah, crap like that caused the problem in the first place. I wouldn't feel too back for Mr Slacker as it might be his fault that was even there and re-shrunk.

I guess, I mean, for all I know, he thought he was doing me a favor. Clever note:

When I buy a game, I always carefully peel off the sticker that holds the CD/DVD case shut and place it somewhere on the box as proof that I bought it. When my brother in law opened the game for his son, he took a knife to the sticker going down the spine. Upon looking at the sticker, I noticed that the corners had dirt/finger prints on the sticker side of the label, indicating someone had tampered with it before.

From now on, I'll look at that sticker, even if the game is shrink wrapped. As clean and perfect as new shrink wrap looks, they can't tamper with that sticker without leaving dirt or wrinkling the sticker. Great way to double check a game, but then again, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO.

WAY OFF TOPIC:
Fuck those thieves, I'll agree with Inazuma for once and say at least with internet piracy, little kids aren't left crying on their birthday.

This happened to me once. Bought Final Fantasy 10 from Best Buy to give as a birthday present to me brother in law. Had to send him the game because he was across states. It was shrink wrapped minty from the store, then wrapped in wrapping paper, then sealed for mailing.

He calls me up saying there was nothing in the sealed case!? I'm like WTF? We both called Best Buy and didn't get anything, not that we had much hope.

It's messed up man.
