Smile: Went to local McDonalds to use the WiFi, and I plan on staying most of the day. There is a young kid in front of me playing Portal on his laptop. It warms my heart to see young gamers playing an FPS other than Call of Duty. :)
Portal is an FPS? I always thought of it as an action puzzle game.

It was a Dane Cook clip. Having never heard of Dane Cook before, I gave it a go. This was the clip :
A friend of mine told me a "humorous" story that he had heard on a comedy special, but couldn't remember the comedian's name. I guessed "Dane Cook" because it wasn't funny. I was right.

In the game, the primary action is shooting at things from a first-person perspective. I rest my case.

Smile: Went home over the weekend, collected all my old games from my old bedroom in my parent's house. Among the colelction:
Final Fantasy 2, 3, MQ , Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore - All CIB
Breath of Fire, Super Metroid, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Lufia 1 and 2 - Cart only
Thousand Arms, Final Fantasy Anthology & Chronicles, Star Ocean the Second Story, Suikoden 1 and 2, Tales of Destiny - CIB

Ticked: Found out the games I bought for my nephews birthday presents were gutted, nothing inside by notebook paper and blank CDRs. Also the MP3 player I bought him didn't work.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I don't consider Portal an FPS because it actually requires brainpower to play. Any idiot can play Call of Duty. I consider Portal/Half life action puzzle games that happen to be in the first person perspective.

SMILE: Promoted to fulltime at work, which means I will finally get insurance. I work for a small, family owned pet supply store and they only have 3 fulltimers so it is a pretty big deal. I have only been there about a year and I have already gotten a two dollar raise and now this. I love it so I am happy that I can stay here for a long time without worrying about money and insurance.

FROWN: I spend many years as a vet tech and LOVED it. Plus, I was DAMN good at it. This move to fulltime makes me feel like I am giving up on the chance at every being a tech again. I hated every doctor I worked for though, too much concern about money and not just in a "let's be realistic, this is a business and we need to support ourselves" sense, but a "lie to clients and risk their animal's lives even for unnecessary procedures" sense. One doctor actually lied to a client once and said their animal was alive even though he killed it during surgery. This way he could charge them for a couple more nights of hospitalization. This guy is under investigation by the veterinary board. I still held out hope that there was a perfect practice with perfect people somewhere out there (I know there are, but they don't have job openings, surprise surprise).

smile: spent 2 days memorizing 65-70 bacteria and viruses and specific characteristics of each one along with a bunch of other shit and i got a 92 on the exam. i don't normally like to brag about 92s, or grades for that matter, but the fact i was able to get the job done in less than 2 days makes me very happy.

pissed: last week i was able to run in shorts and t-shirt. today: long pants, gloves, and 2 shirts. WTF? come on mother nature, quit teasing us.
if you took a shit, please put it back
