Limewater wrote:That's kind of the point. I enjoy real Chinese food, but I also really enjoy the bastardized American versions. I enjoy real Thai food, but I also like the food at a place like Mama Fu's or Tin Drum. I like real Italian food, but I'm also a fan of the bastardized stuff they serve at the Olive Garden and Fazoli's. I like genuine Mexican food, but I also like Chipotle and Taco Bell.

I'm a fan of bastardized food. I just thought it would be funny (and possibly lucrative) to not make any pretense of authenticity. I thought it would also deflect some of the hate that folks like you seem to have for inauthentic food. You know, that way folks like you can enjoy it "ironically."
Actually, that's a good idea. Honestly, for all of my grumpiness I really am the same way, I do enjoy the bastardized stuff as much as the real thing, particularly japanese and chinese (good god I can't get enough of that). There's a small japanese chain in Denver called Kokoro that the food fans decry as being the Japanese equivalent of McDonalds, but I still love it every bit as much as I love the more authentic (and more expensive) places.

I'm just far more picky about Italian food. And the reason for that is simply because I'm Italian and I grew up on homemade. As much as I bitch about Olive Garden (and I take every opportunity) I do eat there occasionally. They have some good stuff. They just piss me off sometimes, like rollatini, and the narrator for their commercials who sounds as if he has a sausage stuck in his throat.

I realize that makes me a bit of a hypocrite, but what can I say? Everybody's got something that pushes their buttons, whether or not it makes sense. I promise I'm not really such a jerk about this stuff, I just talk a lot.

I apologize if I got too pissy about it, I wasn't trying to be rude.

That's your choice my friend. Enjoy it. If we ever go out to eat together though, you'll have to pick something else.

If we were still in the early 90s....

Final Fight
Starring Jesse Ventura as Mike Haggar, Jean Claude Van Damme as Cody, and Brandon Lee as Guy.

...they would interact with the... movie? So you're saying it's a... video that you could play like a... game?

I'd buy that for a dollar.

Though you miscast Haggar. Don "The Predator" Fry is Haggar. His stache is ten times better than Ventura's, plus he can pilot the Atragon.

Id like to see

Fear Effect

Hunter the Reckoning

Dragon Force

Gears of War.

I think all of those could work on their own, and with the exception of Dragon Force, i wouldn't mind them taking liberties with some of the storyline.

D'oh, you're right. I totally forgot about Don Frye. It's kinda creepy how much he looks like Haggar.
