Do prerecorded SVHS tapes exist?
Do prerecorded SVHS tapes exist?
I just found a Super VHS player at a thrift store, so I decided to buy, if for nothing else than to demodulate my Ataris into s-video! I know that SVHS is supposed to have 400 lines of resolution, and I am curious to compare this to VHS, but for the life of me I cannot find any prerecorded SVHS material, either in the numerous thrift stores and books stores I've looked, nor on the internet. Do these tapes exist? If so how do I go about getting them?
Re: Do prerecorded SVHS tapes exist?
There were a few SVHS movies, a failed marketing attempt though. Most of the public at the time had VHS only players. Laser Disc filled that limited videophile market. It would be hard to find an actual SVHS movie, rare find!
Google: svhs movies
Using a VCR to demodulate a console won't improve the signal. The source is still RF. But the VCR does give an inexpensive conversion option if the HD doesn't have the right inputs.

Alas thats what I thought, although I have been trying to track down a laserdisc player, if only to watch what I understand are the best versions of Star Wars. Especially now that I hear the BD versions will more "enhanced" more when they are realized in September.
