I have the EZFlash 3in1, both GBA and DSlite variants. Loading Mother 3 on it basically turns it into a standalone Mother 3 cart. No menus or anything. I was also considering printing out a label and sticking it on a flashcart with Mother 3 on it but there are two problems I have with this:

1) On the flashcart casing itself, where it usually says "Game Boy Advance", there's the wording "EZFlash" instead.

2) The batteries on the EZFlash 3in1 are notorious for dying very quickly. This hasn't happened to me yet, but the fact that there's a stickied topic on GBAtemp on how to replace the battery (looks complicated) doesn't fill me with any kind of confidence that the batteries will last a long, long time.

If that Mother 3 repro ever materialised, I'd probably just go for that.

Battery? For the save? I hope it desn't backup the ROM, Then the word FLASH would sorta be false advertising.

Yep, for the save. Battery backups, just like every other pirated GBA cart you find in the wild. Don't worry the game itself is save in NOR flash memory so it won't disappear if the battery dies :D

You can backup the save with DS + DS flashcart + GBAexploader though, but that's such a pain to go through.

1. Couldn't I just replace the shell with a normal GBA shell?

2. Couldn't I just replace the crappy battery with a good battery?

1) I was going to say no, the screw slots in a different place, but then I checked my EZFlash and it looks like they're interchangeable. I've got a spare GBA cart lying around here along with a triwing screwdriver but no tiny philips screwdriver, which is what the EZFlash uses. I'll go buy a screwdriver later and try it out. I'll get back to you on that.

2) Well you could, if you want to. The directions on GBAtemp on how to change your EZflash battery look complicated to me but maybe that's just me. That guide is for the DSlite version but it should be the same for the GBA size EZflash as well.

Ok, so I took a screwdriver to my EZFlash and a cheapo pirate cart I bought ages ago (I didn't know any better at the time) and discovered that you can't separate the board from the EZFlash casing, because the rumble motor (at least I think that's what it is) is stuck to it. Seeing as GBA games don't actually use the rumble motor it's probably possible to cut it off from the board and then place it into a Nintendo GBA casing.

I also tried just putting the front cover casing of the Nintendo GBA casing onto my exposed EZFlash cart but the clips were in the wrong position.

So yeah... replacing the cover, not possible. Well, at least not as easy as just taking one thingy out and putting it in another thingy.

If we can get 1000 orders, they'll be $3.20 each so should be pretty cheap when sold. Show your support on NA.
