I just finished watching the new Russian Super-Hero Story Black Lightning. All I can say is that if Russian film-making keeps up this pace, Disney may have some serious competition.
The film has several actors from Nightwatch/Daywatch, and terrific special effects, acting and writing. While it might easily be considered a kid's movie, it shouldn't be overlooked by any comic-book/superhero fans. If you like Doctor Who, you will like this!
You can see it on XBox Live/Zune (in Russian with English subtitles).

There's a forum for off-topic/whater

I think if a movie stands out, it can have its own thread.

If it's on Netflix, I might check it out.

I heard about this a while ago but then realized it was made by the guy who directed Nightwatch which I despise. Was this movie somewhat sensical or does it have the Axe Cop taken seriously vibe of Nighwatch?

While it does have a few of the same actors, it is a MUCH better written piece. Nightwatch was painfully campy in places, but this is downright polished, if somewhat 'kiddie'. Totally reminds me of the new Doctor Who shows.

Are you out of your mind?

Re: AWESOME Russian Super-Hero Movie!
It was awful. Illogical. Pointless. There's a dude who can turn into a bear. But never turns into a bear. There's a part where they put a frying pan between an old lady's hands because if she claps something happens. There's a dude with a Spine Sword (which would have been awesome in a cooler movie). There's a fight scene at the beginning before you even know what's happening, and a guy gets stabbed by scissors. There was something to do with a bus that they drive around and it flipped over or teleported or something. The whole thing felt like it was made up as they went along. And yet it never went anywhere. If the movie had had a really low budget it would have at least been a so bad it's good ordeal, but considering the russian matrix look of the whole thing, it just felt like a waste.
I even skipped through some scenes while high and was just filled with seething hatred for my 5 wasted dollars. I don't even feel that way when looking at Dash Galaxy in Alien Asylum on my shelf.

Re: AWESOME Russian Super-Hero Movie!
watched about 10 minutes of nightwatch. Got to the part where the lady was freaking the hell out about making some kind of bloody drink or whatever - turned it off.
It looked kinda dumb.
