Okay, I have now run through this game on the Wii as well as the Dreamcast.

The wii version is obviously more arcade perfect: The game does nothing that the Neo Geo hardware could not do and is way too fucking hard on the default setting.

Does anyone else have this version + the DC version? Some of the move sets seem to be different and I would like to confirm.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Played tonight with racketboy...he kicked my bum. Just now getting into the fighting games, so I have a learning curve. I enjoyed playing with Leona, Kasumi, and Athena. Yes I'm a girl and I like playing with an all girl team :) We watched the video to get some tips (I think that was more for my benefit) but I fell asleep...

trying out the arcade version now, and wow....lets just say racketboy was being easy on me...

That is actually a good team to learn the game with. Leona and Athena are in almost all the KoF titles - anything you learn how to do with them will translate (more or less) to the entire series. Kasumi is mostly a one-off character but a lot of fun.

Is anyone else still playing this month?

Well, it wasn't that so much that I was being easy on you. Terry is the only character I know well and I was playing with a Dual Shock instead of the arcade stick.

I need to practice some more on my own. The only SNK fighter I know that well is Mark of the Wolves.

BTW, I found it funny that racketgirl was playing KOF and posting on the forum all while I was asleep on the living room floor last night.

Just to be clear, isn't the Wii version KOF '95 - '97?

94 - 98

Think of it as an Orochi Saga Sandwich

Ah
I guess the Amazon description threw me off -- I was thinking about buying that one:
The most extensive KOF collection ever with five complete games
Includes the Orochi Saga trilogy (95-97)
Unlockable bonus content materials
First time KOF has appeared on the Wii

It is worth it. I actually re-bought it new off of Amazon about a week ago. It is one of the better fighting game compilations that SNK has put out yet: It is not bare-bones like the Fatal Fury or Art of Fighting discs that came out for the PS2.

Well, I ended up getting the Ultimate Match for PS2...

Maybe if it grows on me, I'll get the Wii one too (at least it's affordable)
