Wait, not only do they have the gall to charge more than base price for SF I, it's more than SF II CE? Hell, I'm surprised they bothered offering it.

Nice recs. I'd axe Cratermaze, though, and add Military Madness instead. The gameplay in the former bores me to death after five levels.

They aren't charging more than base price. Turbografx 16 games on Virtual Console are 600 points, Turbo CD/Super CD games are 800. Street Fighter 2: CE is a Hu-Card, Fighting street is a Turbo CD. The reason Street Fighter 2 is mroe than 600 is because its an import title, and they always get a price increase. Yeah, it's kinda stupid that SF1 costs more than SF2 despite being awful, but at the same time, its consistent pricing.

I also think Alien Crush, Bonk 3, Dynastic Hero, Dragons Curse and both Neutopia games should've been marked as bold on the former list. ESPECIALLY Dragons Curse which is fantastic, just like most of the wonder boy games.

Yeah, good call, I was trying not to add too many bold choices, but every one of those games is already included on my greatest PCE / PCE CD games lists. I love the PCE so much. Every time I read about it, I dream about what would have happened if the TurboGrafx-16 had been successful in the US, instead of a colossal failure.

They ARE charging the base price for SFI.

Fighting Street is a CD game, and Nintendo is charging a base price of 800points for a TG-CD game.

Street Fighter II' is an import game. Import games go for 100points more than local games. SFII' is a HuCard game. The base price for HuCard (errr.... Turbochip) games is 600points. So, 600+100=700.

These prices fall directly inline with the VC pricing scheme.

To be honest, I've technically never played Cratermaze. I had the Japanese version, which uses Doraemon characters. Not that it makes a difference. It's the same game, and it is hella fun!

I never really got into Military Madness, but I can see that I'd like it if I did (I HAVE played it, just not much). Famicom Wars style! I can't really call a game a must-have if I haven't played it much.

I think I prefer the PCE overall to the SNES, and maybe even Genesis/MD. It is really a great system. It's just to bad that Hudson/NEC buggered up the US marketing so bad and basically ignored PAL regions/S.America, along with Nintendo's illegal monopolistic practices.

Haha, I thought of ALL those games. Alien Crush is awesome, but I think Devil's Crush (ummm... Crash...) is better. I only thought I should bold one pinball game (yet I bolded a ton of shmups). Bonk 3 is great, but the first two are better IMO. All three are worth owning, definitely. Dynastic Hero. Hmmm... why didn't I bold that? I guess I like the Genesis version better because of the parallax, but it is for sure great. Likewise with Dragon's Curse; it's awesome, but the Master System version is better IMO (due to the difficulty level, and the graphics are almost the same anyway). I guess I've always seen the Wonderboy series as a Sega (well, Westone) franchise.

Yeah, I think I just turned this into a Sega fanboy rant. :D I do love the PC Engine, but Outrun, After Burner, Fantasy Zone, Space Harrier, Wonderboy, etc. need to be on the Master System/Genesis! Likewise, playing a Bonk game or Bomberman on the GB/NES/SNES just feels wrong.

Agreed! Do you ever hang out at PCEngineFX.com?

Why is R-Type 800points? Is it the Complete version on CD?

Is this what you are referring to? http://www.pcenginefx.com/forums/index.php?topic=2765.0

Seems kinda tricky

Good work!

It's not too tricky. Just download the disc image (bit torrent is the easiest way) and burn it to a CD. It's really not any more effort than using a flash card.

Still, NOTHING can replace an actual copy of a game
