Should I use seperate memory cards for US and JPN PS1 games?
I know GCN had issues using 1 memory card for both regions. Do I need to have a dedicated Japan memory card for my imports on PS1 or PS2?
Re: Should I use seperate memory cards for US and JPN PS1 games?
I use the same memory card (PS1 and PS2) for games from NA and JPN, and I've yet to encounter any issues.

Yeah, you should be fine. I have also had no problems with JPN PS2 saves along side US PS2 saves.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I have a first party GC memory card with JP, EU, and NA region saves on it.
I also use first party PS1 & PS2 cards with JP and NA saves as well. I've never had any issue (loading or saving) in either case.

The GC issue is due to having a Region Switch. This issue doesn't happen when using a modchip or boot disc.
The GC USA Bios and JPN Bios format the MC to work with that region.

Yep, same for me haven't had any issues with multiple saves from different regions on the same memory card.HellHammer wrote:I have a first party GC memory card with JP, EU, and NA region saves on it.

Something I did back when the PS2 came out...
So I only had a few PS1 memcards and I realized the file saves were really small so, I transferred ones I wanted to save to my new PS2 memcard. This worked fine for a long time but after a few years, I noticed that the PS1 file saves started to get corrupted. I never tried to load off the PS2 card (as I read it wouldn't work) but every now and then one of them would say "something corrupt junk message" in the PS2 file browser.

No problem of mixing regions on PS1 or PS2 memory cards. Just for example, I have both NTSC and PAL versions of the game ICO saved in the same PS2 memory card. When I look at them thru the browser, the exact same name and icons, somehow the different region ICOs know which one to load.

Are you sure? PS1 games can't read PS2 memory cards... I know, I've tried it.D.D.D. wrote:Something I did back when the PS2 came out...
