The price is right. Looks nice a nice device, might even be fast enough to do SNES at full speed.
but then there is the analog stick... why oh why did they do that? If it wasn't for that I would be buying it right now. =/

I've had my eyes set on this little guy, too. Doesn't look to be an analog stick, but rather a joystick - hopefully just as good as the Neo Geo Pocket.
Re: GP2X Caanoo
Hey guys,
Ive recently just got one of the original GP2X's for $50 off of craigslist. I absolutely love it. I have been able to update its firmware and I am playing NES, SNES, Genesis, MAME, Master System, Gameboy, Neo Geo CD, and CPS2 (the best thing ever with all of the capcom vs series). All of these work exceptionally well and are a ton of fun!
Now there are some negatives.... Battery life on my unit is crap, sometimes a hard reboot is required to quit a game, the screen is not as beautiful as something newer (my unit is from 2006).
With the Caanoo you can expect a built in rechargable battery so thats great, the emulators are a little newer and still being developed for, it has a faster processor so playing some ps1 games may be achievable, the touch screen is a nice touch but dont expect to use it a lot for any games. All in all though I believe it would be a great investment!
Anywhooooo, thats my $0.02! Check out the following links for some more detailed info about the GP2X and where to get emulators for it!

Re: GP2X Caanoo
I bought an original GP2X several years ago, and it really reignited my interest in retro gaming -- it emulates anything through the 2-D era pretty well, including the Neo*Geo. It's a neat little device and I always take it on trips. I haven't checked out the later iterations of it, like the Wiz or the Caanoo, but the Linux foundation makes it highly customizable and there's quite a community of fans and supporters out there.

I have a Dingoo (A320) and its nice for what it is actually. I'm just looking for something with a bit more power.
Actually what I should do is just wait for the 3DS. I wonder if nintendo will be able to keep out the homebrew or not cause that would be cool even for a virtual boy emu!

Re: GP2X Caanoo
I just got the Canoo this week. I had a Dingoo for a while but thought it was time for an upgrade. The Canoo has a much larger screen and just feels more solid than the Dingoo. It also has more emulation support straight out of the box. Where with the Dingoo you really had to set up Dingux to get more. The Canoo also has PSX support, which the Dingoo does not. Now the PSX support isn't perfect with the Canoo, some games lag, while others have no problems. You can mess with the PSX emulator settings to try to improve a games performance. Another nice thing is it has support for SD cards, it came with a 4GB card but I'm thinking of getting a 32GB so I can have more PSX games.
Bottom line: the Canoo is a great option for handheld classic gaming and also a great tool when it comes to playing the together retro titles.
