I have to come up with a plot line for a short story to write in my Fiction class. My creative well is running a bit thin.

Does anyone have any ideas for a unique short story plot?

You guys would help me a lot if you help me brainstorm!

Nothing cliched please.

Why reinvent the wheel? If you are having trouble with an idea you should not scoff at cliches.
In fact, if you want something original you could always subvert some cliches by setting it up "normally" and then going against the expectation

I would suggest reading a bit of TVTropes but I think it is best that you actually complete the homework...

you're going to your uncle Bernie's for the weekend, but he dies and you don't want that to ruin the party. I think the rest practically writes itself.
