What games are the best? Old or new, puzzle, sports, arcade/classic, but, yeah, any genre too.
I appreciate it. Thank you.
best computer games
Re: best computer games
This is a very vague question, being that the PC has been a gaming platform for like 30-40 years. You'll have to be more specific.

Re: best computer games
You just asked the single most vague question in the history of this forum.
That said, see if any of these are to your liking http://vsrecommendedgames.shoutwiki.com/wiki/PC

Stick with puzzles and sports then since the other genres are covered pretty thoroughly here.brunoafh wrote:This is a very vague question, being that the PC has been a gaming platform for like 30-40 years. You'll have to be more specific.
This is a pretty cool old school Top 150, pre-1997:

Re: best computer games
Deus Ex is their #1? Really?
Yikes
It's a good game but it isn't the greatest PC game of all time in my opinion.
My #1 PC game?
Duke Nukem 3D

Re: best computer games
The Half Life series are amazing and easily best played on the PC.
Go through the Indy games on Steam, there are some amazing PC-only gems to be found.

Re: best computer games
heres a few of my fav's that are lesser known.
X-Com-A squad based combat game thats highly addictive, You have to build bases, do research, etc. to make your army bigger and to get new weapons. If an alien ship appears, you can try to take them out in air so they crash land, and then you can drop a ship with some of your army to eliminate any threats. The first time I played this game I played it for a good 3 months everyday, its a blast.
Cosmos Cosmic Adventure-A platformer somewhat in the vein of SMB3, You play as a little green alien searching for his parents on a strange world. Very solid platformer, huge level's and tons of stuff to collect. The worst part is there are no check points, if you die you have to start the level again
One Must Fall: 2097. I prefer this fighting game to Street Fighter and Mortal combat. You play as humans controlling giant robots, so you pick a human and a robot, which gives you tons of different options for characters. It also has a tournament mode where you enter tournaments and compete for cash to upgrade your bot. You more or less need to have a game pad to play because of the combo setup. The game is loaded with secret fighters and secret moves and all kinds of cool stuff. Best of all, the game is freeware, i'll include the link below.
Tyrian 2000: Another freeware title, this is like a blend of a top down shooter with RPG elements. In story mode, you go planet to planet (level to level) unraveling the story. You can customize your ship by buying new guns, and there are plenty of options to keep you busy. The game has 5 episodes with a total of 65 levels and 16 secret levels, some of which you play more than once. The music and graphics are excellent, and the plot makes this game stand out amongst other shooters.
Strife: The last game to be released using the Doom engine, This game combines Doom style shooting with RPG elements. If you are into RPG's and Doom, this game is good.
Heres links to the two freeware titles I listed:
