PlayStation: Sony's Bid for Power

Post by hashiriya1 »

"The Game Boy should have been a Sony product!"
- Sony Manager

If you're interested in the birth of the original PlayStation then this article is worth a read. It goes into detail about the whole Sony/Nintendo CD-ROM fiasco, among other things like how most people were rightfully skeptical about Sony entering the gaming market.

I wonder if any of those "200 original PlayStation units" still exist, or were trashed.
Also, I wonder what that "absolutely awesome" game was or if it perhaps found its
way to the PS1.

Anyway, click the thumbnails to read the scans.

Interesting read. And look at that lovely standard s-video port that went away by release day. :(

yknow, looking back it seems funny that I was this big Nintendo-fanboy, but somehow the jump from SNES to PS1 made more sense to me that SNES to N64.

Same here. I never sat well with the N64. I bought an N64 at launch, but found myself always going back to my SNES and PS1.
