throwing the towel in.....

Post by alexis524 »

after years of going back and forth and constant mental debates, i've decided to end my hobby of video gaming and collecting. I've tried to regain that "feeling" for so long, and i just came to terms recently that gaming just doesn't do it for me anymore. I have an ungodly backlog that will never get gotten to in my lifetime, and i'm sick of having them stare at me all neglected like everytime i pass by them in my rec room. I recently realized that it's become more a thing of having said game i'm pursuing rather than playing it and enjoying it, and i guess that's not cool with me anymore. I may keep one or two consoles and one or two games, but for the most part, it's all going and i'm not looking back or will regret it. evar. so you may see me in the BST forum soon.

god that felt good...

So sad! Seems like you arrived at this decision after some careful thought. I have dropped out of hobbies from time to time in my life, so I understand where you are coming from...

Here's hoping you find something else more fulfilling!

he's mentioned this before... that he was considering it. I guess it's just time.

He was actually one of the first members to ever trade with me on here!

I understand the feeling. I did this myself a few years ago. I came back to the hobby when I realized what it was I had gotten into gaming for in the first place.

Good luck alexis524! Let us know what your new hobby turns out to be!
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

your situation reminds me of this episode! You may want to let it go, but yet you may still want it!

Good luck man. It's just a hobby afterall, right? Watercolors and bonsai are perfectly good hobbies too. There are other ways to pass the time.

There have been long periods of time where I have gone without playing games. Sometimes months, sometimes years. Personally, I wouldn't get rid of everything. I would save some choice titles and consoles. I can't imagine quitting gaming fully, but maybe that's just because I still currently enjoy it.

No offense, but if you have a website you fill in dedicated to your backlog of games... then WOW, you might have to many????? I admit I have to many also... I am taking care of that problem though. Good luck on your new interests.

I was thinking along the same lines as the OP, and then I read this:

more than a decade's worth of scientific research shows that gaming is actually one of the most productive ways we can spend time.

So I'll probably hang on to a fair bit of my collection then. :P
