Well I'm not sure it drains battery but I thought it must - when I turn it off like that, turning it back on puts me exactly back where I was (e.g. in the middle of a game) - that means that whatever RAM state it was in must be maintained. I figured that drains the battery but maybe they made the PSP in a way that it does not.

I also have sometimes turned on my PSP after a bit and it was extremely low on battery and lost the date, and I figured that this happened because the last time I had used it I had unintentionally suspended it instead of actually "turning it off". But maybe I'm wrong here.

Clarifications by experts in the know are welcomed :)

It puts the PSP into sleep mode so it does drain the battery. I can't comment on how quickly it drains the battery.

Personally, I always turn mine off unless I'm planning to play it again in the next few hours.

Even when it is turned off, the battery will lose charge over time unlike the GBA SP batteries which seem to last forever.

well I guess I always put mine in sleep mode then.

Either way it doesn't matter. If you need to restart the HEN it's as simple (now) as going to launching it right from XMB. Wait 5-10 seconds. You're done.

I wonder if the issue is that it's not compatible with 6.20? I'll have to try my other PSP with the newer version at some point.

That is really cool as well - back when I was informed about this stuff it was a bit trickier and I would probably need to re-read the instructions. I vaguely remember needing to view some image files and it sometimes would only work after some attempts.

yes it used to be more complicated. Even over a month ago it was more complicated -- you still had to run a Patapon 2 demo and load a game save, etc. But NOW the newest HEN is signed, so all you need to do is download it, put it in the GAME folder and run it straight from the XMB. Super easy.

I own both a 1000 and a 3000 and I'd recommend the 3000... anyone who thinks the 2000 has a better screen than the 3000 is on crack.

Sleep/suspend mode has minimal drain on a battery. From my testing/common usage, I saw roughly 30% of the battery drain after 2 weeks of sitting unused. Totally acceptable seeing that I usually change my PSP after any game session if I have the charger nearby.

As for the GBA emu, what psp do you have again Noise? PSP2k, right? I'll look into it for you, I have GBA running just fine on my Go, can you explain what happens when you run it?

Launch from XMB -> PSP white loading screen -> Black screen -> PSP turns off?
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

I have a 2000. I'm using 6.20TN-C

XMB -> Emulator runs -> Load ROM -> Black screen (hard reset)

This has happened with every version of the emu I've tried. I've read all the installation guides. Tried dl'ing the BIOS from multiple sources. Made sure the BIOS was 16kb. Nothing seems to work. I get this same result every time no matter what ROM I try testing it with.
