In college, I was a regular customer of this underground video store on Easton Ave, New Brunswick, NJ that was owned by the guitarist for the Smithereens (Jim Babjak). I remember picking up their first CD when it was released and noticing that I recognized the one of the guys on in the group. So the next time I saw him, I chatted up about it. He was pretty modest. He continued the store for another year before selling it.
My wife was friends with John Fishman (of Phish) when she was at college (Univ of VT). So she had a number of free concert ticket opportunities during college and after college. I went to one of the shows with her.

Was really good friends for years with the younger brother of Lucas Neff from that Fox show "Raising Hope". Tended not to interact with Lucas much beyond him buying us beer in high school, but I've heard every embarrassing/hilarious story about the guy so that works.

My older brother beat the crap out of a guy named Jeff Landry in high school. Landry provoked the fight, and would go on to become a member of the House of Representatives.

A girl I know was dating one of the band members of The Presidents of the United States. I've hung out with all of them a little bit and she and I and some of our mutual friends are all in their music video for the song "Love Everybody".
So, that kind of fails at the topic because I'm not really friends with the POTUS, but that's as close as I can get to the "made it big" topic. Well, aside from Nathan Barnatt, who is bound for huge success.

Re: Ever had a friend that "made it big?"
Yeah i have a few friends in the music scene who have made it big. A band I've mentioned on here before, Last Chance to Reason, just signed with Prostetic records. They are on tour in canada with Athiest right now, and will be at the New England Hardcore and Metal festival in april. I've played shows with them for 7 years, since i was 15.
its been cool watching them go from the band everyone in town was talking about to the band everyone and their grandmother seem to be talking about. They also have a video game coming out, which makes them highly appropriate to mention here.
I hope no one considers this thread hi jacking or anything, but since this is a video game forum...heres a video of them in the process of making their video game.
