I knew sega was trying to stay close with this, but I had no idea it would be this rediculously close to the Saturn version, complete with visible draw-in and some of the stiff looking player movements. Sega must have put a lot of work into making it just like the original. Does the music change in this one like the Saturn version?

I'm hoping to find that out soon. You mean how each stage has like 3 alternate songs depending on the A-Life status? I haven't heard it yet. Yes the game isn't a true remake. Nothing seems to be altered in anyway that affects gameplay. Just new textures, models, effects, and texture filtering. That song in the gallery mode seems new though, so who knows what else I'll find. I've tried the Sega Saturn mode as well, and I think it's still slightly enhanced in terms of frame rate and maybe draw distance. It just feels like the remake mode, but with all the old assets and low resolution. You can actually see your TV switch resolutions. The Apprentice wrote:I knew sega was trying to stay close with this, but I had no idea it would be this rediculously close to the Saturn version, complete with visible draw-in and some of the stiff looking player movements. So far however, I'll safely say that this is better than the Saturn original. Also it's very easy on English speakers. Only the save screen and the hint screens are in Japanese so far.
Thanks for sharing all of this, Mozgus.
I'd love to see a full review if you had time
That video site you used seems pretty good -- have you been pretty happy with it?
I'm trying to scout out solutions for having gameplay videos for the game database.

I'm not the best person to review a NiGHTS game, honestly.racketboy wrote:Thanks for sharing all of this, Mozgus.

Stage 6 is nice. The load times can be terrible, but the quality is as good as you want it to be, plus it allows direct downloading. One of the two videos didn't want to publish though. I had to erase it, re-upload it, and re-publish and then it went through. I watched a friend of mine use it now for a couple years, so it seemed like a good choice.
Edit: Confirmed that there is alternate music on the stages. All the music in the game is in ADX at 48kHz. There are 218 tracks. Each stage has somewhere between 20-28 tracks. Remember that on Saturn, most of this music was sequenced, aside from the "original" theme on each stage.

Right then, that's what I was worried about. Now it seems there's no reason to own the original besides nostalgia and collection.
