I heard about it a week ago, its available for download (for trial purposes only) on blackcats.
The original Nights is now on Playstation 2 !
Actually, im pissed off about it, leave it on a Saturn, where people will go out of their way, buy a Saturn and enjoy the true beauty of the game on its original hardware.

NO U. The Saturn version is now obsolete. And besides, whether you go the ps2 or Saturn route, the average gamer is going out of their way no matter what. I mean, for most people, this requires a modded ps2 to play as an import or a downloaded copy.claudio wrote:Actually, im pissed off about it, leave it on a Saturn, where people will go out of their way, buy a Saturn and enjoy the true beauty of the game on its original hardware.
im just talking about the pure appreciation of the game running on the original hardware, not so much the trouble of getting of the saturn i take that statement back.Mozgus wrote:Yeah, that's where I grabbed my copy, heh.

i just think people in general can appreciate the game more when its running on underrated hardware compared to a powerful ps2.
also, i love the sega saturn and i dont know if its just me but i really want people to understand how wonderful of a machine it really is by playing gems like Nights on the original hardware.
You know, you've got a point there Claudio.
I was pretty excited for this updated version of Nights... BUT...
Does it in some way subtract from the glory of the original? Is the Saturn Nights somehow less weird and fascinating by virtue of having been ported to the most mainstream gaming console ever?

Whatever guys. It's a game. The hardware doesn't matter. This version has been improved quite a lot, without having many flaws. This is more than you can expect from Sega these days. If people out there want a Saturn for whatever reason, they'll buy one. Don't try to stuff it down their throats. Multi-platform games are always a good thing as long as the overall product doesn't suffer from it.
Just out of curiousity, I looked up the definition of the word:instant_classic wrote:"obsolete"? =/
"a: no longer in use or no longer useful <an obsolete word> b: of a kind or style no longer current"
Obsolete, isn't quite the proper descriptor.
The original is still useful.
Just not the best.

Just got my import copy in the mail. The artwork book is a nice collectors piece. If you enjoy polygon drop-out and bad textures stick with the Saturn version. The only reason to play it on Saturn is the original analog pad, and the PS2 analog seems to work just fine.
I might capture some comparison shots and upload them if I care enough.
