I thought that DHL pulled out of the domestic shipping market a couple of years ago.
That might explain it then. I don't exactly follow that sort of thing too closely.

I just posted an edit to my previous post. I don't know if you saw it. I don't know what their current status is, but it doesn't sound like they'll deliver anything to your door anymore.

But it went through, five different places or something. Are you sure there was no adverse weather anywhere along the path?

Also, it is quite possible that poor weather conditions delayed the arrival of the truck that was supposed to haul all of the packages out of Mesquite, Texas or one of the other depots through which it was routed.

I regularly fly between Maryland and Atlanta. When flying to Atlanta, I fly almost directly over my apartment and go another twenty miles to land at the airport. My apartment's on the way! What the heck?! I hate Delta!

It arrived at Roanoke yesterday morning, and was then delayed from departure due to adverse weather conditions. It left Roanoke for Alexandria this morning. The delay was supposedly in Roanoke.

Well normally if a package went past my little town I wouldn't think anything of it, but Alexandria is right beside this little city called Washington, D.C. so I'm sure there's a major sort facility here, oh wait there is, its in Alexandria. So it would be like if you flew Delta from Atlanta and instead of stopping at Reagan National, they flew past it, flew to Pennsylvania then back to Reagan to drop you off.

You didn't have to read the thread. It was obviously from the title it was a rant.

In my experience, "Adverse Weather Conditions" is often used as a sort of get-out-of-jail-free card by UPS whenever a package is delayed- regardless of the weather.

I've also noticed that "Train Derailment" is a very common cause of delay with them. Not too sure how often trains derail, but for UPS it seems to happen several times a week.

Sounds like UPS is derailing trains to me.

Or, again, the delay could have been elsewhere and simply delayed the truck that was supposed to pick up packages in Roanoke.

Yeah, but there was a truck headed to Roanoke. There might not have been one headed to Alexandria or DC from the previous facility.

My DHL story:

One of the employees jacked my broken oXbox that I was sending in for repair. Mind you, I messed up a mod and was ready to pay for a repair, but since it was lost in transit, DHL replaced my Xbox for free ^_^

My UPS story:
Bought a package from a seller in Seattle to have it shipped to Bellevue. Some how went to Oregon, then to California before it came to my front door. Oh yeah, the contents were missing when it got to me.

My USPS story:
My package was sent back to me marked 'insufficient postage, please attach $0.35 more to original postage'. Package was sent back to me with a $0.42 cent stamp >_<

My Fedex story:
Package was left outside of my apartment complex by the front door, despite having a "SIGNITURE REQUIRE" sticker on it. Item was stolen from the box, called Fedex, told me to call the seller. Called the seller, told me it's Fedex's fault, call them. Called Fedex, told me 'Sucks to be you, we'll open an investigation on our side'

Bleh.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

Don't really understand your story. It sounds like you sent a package with a $.42 stamp which wasn't sufficient. All you have to do is put $.35 more postage and then put it back in the mail. I've done this a couple of times. Not a big deal.
