Post by Joostrevo »

Which of them is better? I've heard that 720p is better. I'm just wondering. no need for technical stuff

Since you just want the better one, I say 720p is better. I always prefer a progressive scan picture over an interlaced picture - especially for gaming. Some may disagree with me. I'm sure it's just a matter of moments before CRTgamer weighs in on this.

Given the option of 1080i and 720p, if you have a CRT HDTV choose 1080i as it's the native format the TV understands. If you have an LCD/Plasma/LED etc TV choose 720p since these types of TVs have to de-interlace and upscan the signal before it can be displayed. 720p takes one link out of the chain and will decrease latency. Your mileage may vary.

Agree, 720 progressive is better then the higher resolution 1080 flicker interlace. Newer sets do have 1080p. I actually keep my HD CRT 4:3 at 480p to maintain a full screen effect. Anything higher results in a squashed wide screen image on my square tube. Meh, DVDs are at 480p anyways. A side benefit of 480p only setting, is my cable box doesn't have random digital lockups at the lower less digital information hog resolution.

Forget all the specs though its up to the individual's eye, setup what looks good to you.

Too much digital info over an older non-fiber cable system.

1080i really only gives you 570 lines of resolution per field. Go with 720p. There's a reason why CRT computer monitors have been progressive scan for a long time.
