I just finished The American and really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of one of my favorite movies over the last few years In Bruges.

Despicable Me starring Steve Correll, John Lovitz, and Michael Caine (just kidding, but Jason Segel and Russell Brand really sounded similar): This was a great movie. I am not sure why it got such bad reviews (not a lot of bad reviews, but enough to surprise me). My wife and I both liked this better than Up. Up was super cute and moving, but a bit long and forced in some parts. Again this was not enough to totally ruin the movie. Despicable me had a great flow and we found it hilarious. I thought Steve Correll was awesome (didn't bother me that his accent was not authentic, a dumb critique of an animated movie where pretty much nothing is authentic or even believable).

SPOILERS

I am also aware that the effects caused by shrinking and stealing the moon would be much more severe than depicted in this movie, but apparently it would take way more balloons to lift a house off of the ground than depicted in Up. So, yeah, check out this movie and form your own opinion.

Disturbingly perfect...

On a scale of ten this is an eleven, standing ovation.

Go watch this movie, now. That's an order.

It wasn't THAT good!

I agree. Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, but it's certainly not something that everyone is going to like......much like The Host

While I don't know about it being better than Up (I saw both several months back, so the memory's fuzzy), I agree that this film was a lot better than I expected. I saw it somewhat unwillingly with several friends and ended up coming out of the theater extremely happy that I'd checked it out. It proved to be extremely funny and entertaining, and I had a great time.

Clash of the Titans remake. It was good. But I still like the original better.

Why does a monster movie necessarily have to be a comedy, a horror, or cheesy?
