I have a PS2 slim that has not been used much and it was started scratching disks. After looking into it i noticed the laser ribbon was scratching them. i replace the ribbon and the laser now would not read says no data. i Reseated the connections and replaced with another ribbon but same result. i got a new laser and same thing. the laser moves and put out the red light. it will not play dvd,cd or games. what am i misssing just want my kids to be able to play games and dvds in the living room. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hiya mgwiant , welcome to Racketboy Forums..........

When getting the new Laser did you remove the anti static solder point ?

Also you may need to calibrate/adjust the DVD and CD Pots with a Digital Multi Meter.

I dont know the values for a PS2 Slim someone here may know

hi again.............

I bought a FAT PS2 off of someone for 10US and it wouldnt read DVD-Rs , i got my DMM out and did a read of the DVD POT and adjusted it 100ohms less. It still wouldnt read games so i did it 2 more times and it now works you may have a similar issue.

DMM's are cheap if you dont already have one , around 10US. Also i recommend you go over to PSX-Scene Forums and post a Thread in the section below

Tell them what Model you have and all that and also tell them its for your kids they will appreciate that.
