Do you read Kotaku or other Gawker sites?

Post by J T »

And if so, do you hate the new layout?

Well, try viewing the site from Canada, and breathe a sigh of relief as you can see the old format once again.

Alternatively, you can also view their mobile version if you care enough about content to strip away aesthetics.

Seriously, the new American format on Gawker sites is so bad. I couldn't even read the Sunday comics today because everything was cropped and the enlarge button wouldn't work.

If you click on "classic view" it is much closer to the original, and I think I might actually like it better. I am not a fan of the new default though.

Nevermind. I was beaten to the punch.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Great fast loading link, Bookmarked! Thanks!

I wish more sites (Gamestop) would offer a bloat free way of loading. Unfortunately, I have to keep the java turned on to access various sites. I miss the earlier days of the Web with all the garbage removed, just let me see the the info!

I did not favor the new layout at all when I saw it last week. I visit that site maybe once a week.

Yeah, I don't like it either. I've gotten to the point that I don't immediately reach for pencils to jam in my eyes, but I still don't like it.

I love it. Doesn't take 30 minutes to load a damn page anymore. I only go on lifehacker, and I thought it was ironic how a site about efficiency and shit was so slow.

I visit Kotaku frequently, but this is just putting me off. I understand that redesigning your site periodically is important, but this pretty clearly missed the mark.

I don't visit Gawker sites if I can help it. The writing is very poor quality, and the stories that pass for news are generally laughable. I do keep Lifehacker in my RSS feed because even with the two aforementioned problems, they do tend to aggregate interesting stories from OTHER sites.

As to the new layout, I actually thought it was a huge improvement over their old layout. Faster page loads, less ads, easier to read content. Didn't really get what the complaining was about, considering their old design was horrendous.
