Good Game Bits?

Post by darthmunky »

I have purchased several game bit tools over the years to open my snes console and games but they seem to get stripped VERY easily. Are there any known places to buy good quality game bits? I'm getting pretty fed up here. I've been buying them on ebay from different sellers, the last one I got was stripped after about 8 uses.

Are you using a powered driver? That usually chews everything up.

No, just the normal game bits used via a screwdriver. It's actually these exact ones:

It's as if they were made out of charcoal or something. Like they chisel away to powder after a while. I still have a different one for opening consoles though but it's slightly stripped too.

I bought this one from LukieGames and I haven't had any issues yet:

Find a tempered set. I bought mine two years ago and have opened well over a 1000 nes games and it is still very usable.

Get these ones, these are the ones you get when you need to open up a couple thosand of carts. I've went through 3 of those black ones, they don't last at all.

See this previous thread.

On page 2 I have a picture of the EQ ones versus the shitty ones that come in the Zoozen toolkit

Dang I wish I had read those comments. I ordered a repair bit from nintendorepairshop not too long ago because my SNES wasn't working right. It would show a black screen or some game would play for a bit and then the screen would get garbled. Anyhow I got a bit from them and as I was using it I could tell it wasn't a good fit. It took a bit of work to not strip the screws. I never did repair that snes because I figured the loader was bad and they cost about $13 so I just had my gf's parents bring her SNES up from their house.
