Wolfgang wrote:What is your favorite comic series of all-time?
X-Men (Which also includes X-Men Evolution)
What is your favorite currently running comic?
Different versions of the X-Men comics.
Who is your favorite comic publisher (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Vertigo, IDW, TokyoPop, Viz, etc.)?
Marvel.
What was your favorite comic storyline/Crossover Event?
Nightcrawler is kidnapped by Striker and is imprisoned. He finds out who he really is and who Striker really is. Meanwhile back at home, his girlfriend prays for him. (X-Men 2 comic book)
Who is your favorite hero/protaganist?
Nightcrawler, the blue dude who can teleport.
Who is your favorite villain?
Magento.
I was just talking about the X-Men to a friend the other day and we made a correlation between two major characters in the X-Universe and two real life people in the Civil Rights Movement (albeit more dramatized, and action-oriented versions).
Charles Xavier = Martin Luther King Jr. Magneto = Malcolm X
As far as overall quality has been concerned, Nextwave was the most consistently awesome comic book I have ever read. After that, the original run of Top 10 was great. And then you've got others: Kingdom Come, Transmetropolitan, Watchmen, etc.
What is your favorite currently running comic?
I don't know, it's been years since I paid attention. Probably anything with Deadpool in it these days.
Who is your favorite comic publisher (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Vertigo, IDW, TokyoPop, Viz, etc.)?
Marvel...sigh. At least, it was. But this last decade has messed up just about everyone I liked in their universe, so now when I look back on them, I stick with their more humorous creations, ie. Nextwave and Deadpool.
I don't have any issue with DC (indeed, Batman's one of my favorite comic book heroes ever), but beyond a handful of titles, it just never catches my eye.
What was your favorite comic storyline/Crossover Event?
Oh, DC vs. Marvel from back in 1996. Getting to see Captain America and Batman go at it was awesome!
Batman has some of my favorite spin-offs or mini-series within the folds of his illustrious career. Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, Batman: Year One, A Death in the Family, The Dark Knight Returns, The Dark Knight Strikes Again, Hush, The Killing Joke, and The Long Halloween are some of my favorites with him. Bat-Manga was also a great Japanese side run that's worth checking out if you've never read it.
Beyond that, Superman: Red Son is probably my favorite "what if" comic.
Who is your favorite hero/protaganist?
Spider-Man...which is probably why I'm not a big fan of Marvel anymore. In Truth, Spider-Man: One More Day was the reason I quit reading comics.
Who is your favorite villain?
Scarecrow has always been my favorite. Between his fear-based capabilities, incredible costume, and send ups to classic horror concepts, I have always thoroughly enjoyed his character...though admittedly I felt the Scarebeast idea was ridiculous. Outside of comics, I have nearly always been happy with his design and representation.
Who is your favorite comic writer?
That's a tough one...Allen Moore's the easy answer, as his work on Top 10 and Watchmen endears him to my heart, though he's generally hit-or-miss. As stated above, I was thrilled with Warren Ellis' Nextwave, and Transmetropolitan was genius. His work on The Authority was also solid. Garth Ennis impressed me with Preacher...mostly. There were several places where I didn't like the turns he took, and by the end I was glad he had finished. I should get around to reading his and Ellis' runs on Hellblazer one of these days.
Who is your favorite comic artist?
Alex Ross, no contest, though I prefer him turning DC characters into mythic figures as opposed to his work with Marvel.
Batman Knightfall, Batman Hush, 1998-1999 run of X-Force, Punisher Max...so many I can't name them all
What is your favorite currently running comic?
The Walking Dead....kinda cliche these days but it is awesome and pretty consistent Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 is a major guilty pleasure for me
Who is your favorite comic publisher (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Vertigo, IDW, TokyoPop, Viz, etc.)?
I like more Marvel characters than most other Comics but good artwork and a good story will always pull me in...and whoever did the Heavy Metal comics...i used to love those
What was your favorite comic storyline/Crossover Event?
Definitely the Marvel vs. DC crossover comic (the story was flimsy but the action was epic)
Who is your favorite hero/protaganist?
Its always a struggle between: Spider Man The Punisher Batman Capt America Hulk Spawn
Who is your favorite villain?
Joker - hands down one of the best characters ever...Batman Arkham Asylum and The Killing Joke seals it.
Props to Barracuda and Loki as well
Who is your favorite comic writer?
Don't have one...I love a good story but I don't follow any particular writer. Warren Ellis, Robert Kirkman, Straczynski, Frank Miller, Joss Whedon...whoever I really don't care as long as it s a fun read.
Who is your favorite comic artist?
MacFarlane, Silvestri, Romita, Jim Lee...they have done a lot of the work I admire most but just like the writers I don't have a favorite

I think I have read all of those except Hush and the Bat-Manga. I need to do something about that. I recently found an AWESOME local comic shop with a huge selection. Perfect timing. Have you ever read JLA:Tower of Babel? I love that book because it answers any child hood argument one might have had about whether or not Batman good take out(insert random DC super hero here)
Just out of curiousity, have you ever read any Vertigo books? They're technically DC books, just under a different imprint. I am fond of Preacher, Fables and Y:The Last Man. The first two series I actually haven't finished yet

Oh yeah, definitely check out Hush. It's the best use of the Riddler I've read in a long time. Bat-Manga is really more of a novelty; apparently DC allowed a manga form of Batman back in the 1960s and then forgot about it for 50 years. It's worth reading for just how different it is. I haven't read JLA: Tower of Babel, but I'll have to check it out. My comics reading has seriously dropped what with being poor.
I mentioned Preacher in my response, but the couple of volumes I read of Fables were excellent. Y: The Last Man started well, but after a couple of volumes I just didn't find it as interesting. Not my cup of tea I suppose.

Yeah sorry about the money situation, that does make things tough. Hope it improves soon
I'm on volume 8 of Fables now and still loving it. Volume 6 is epic and reveals who The Adversary is
JLA:Tower of Babel is a great story that features Ra's al Ghul taking on the league. The way Batman fits into the story is very cool. Awesome cover on the trade paperback too. Check it out:

Spuh. Most of the older stuff I can tolerate, but recently the rate of proliferation of comics is as expedient as the erosion of my mental perspicacity. In other words, more new comics are being made faster than I can forget the old ones.
I suppose I've always been a fan of G.I. Joe, though the toys did help. I always try to follow the Fantastic Four, regardless of team-variant ("Three" my Aunt Petunia). Before they got canceled, I followed Marvel's "international" teams Alpha Flight and Excalibur. Pre-2000 Spider Man for being a wise-cracking angst-cushion (though not as bad as Cyclops). Post-2000 Deadpool for being a refreshing self-deprecation. Youth-groups such as Teen Titans or Young Justice because they were often less serious than their grown-up counterparts, but because of their pedigree, could still put a darn good multi-issue arc.
But most of all, I like limited-run or one-shop team-up comics (especially alternate-universe comics like What If, Universe X, Tangent Comics and Elseworlds) due to how quickly a rapport has to be established (sometimes condensing huge arcs like the Armor Wars or Operation: Intergalactic Storm into a pair of exposition pages), and if the creative team is good enough, how intricately a flowing story is woven in such a finite run. (See: Atomic Robo, various manga books. Very similar to watching self-contained TV episodes of shows like C.S.I..)
What is your favorite currently running comic?
As I get older, I like my adventures to be bite-sized rather than epic. (Seriously, publication-wide crossovers like World War III and Civil War just ran me ragged.) Atomic Robo fits the bill nicely. Though I have to say, I am still a big fan when I spot issues from writers like Gail Simone, Peter David, JM Strazcynski, Paul Dini, Mark Millar, Brian K. Vaughan (and totally not Garth Ennis), of the Farmar/Clairemont duo. (And on a side note, love seeing artwork from England's own Jim Cheung and Alan Davis pop up.)
Who is your favorite comic publisher (Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Vertigo, IDW, TokyoPop, Viz, etc.)?
Ah. When you get to publishing, things gets a little ... gray. Vertigo/Wildstorm I believe are now owned by Cablevision (who owns DC). I'm not sure if Image is still independent or if they just have a lot of freelancers under their label. Much akin to the console wars of the 90s, I just pick titles. Right now, some of my favorite creative teams work for Marvel, DC and Red5. I loved it when Dark Horse was putting forth What's Michael alongside their reknown Star Wars series'. Oni Press and Antarctic Press had lots of North American original manga, from Gold Digger to Blue Monday. I also follow UDON's work, which is mostly through their own publisher/Image. They also tried pushing had a lot of manhwa (like Dorothy of Oz) that just died suddenly. Tokyopop continues to drop titles I love (I do miss the Ateleir Marie and Kindaichi Case Files). Despite all they're still doing, I tend to forget Viz as most of my favorites are long done (Maison Ikkoku, Dance Till Tomorrow, Mai the Psychic). Err, I think it's safe to say I have no "favorite".
What was your favorite comic storyline/Crossover Event?
TimeQuake? (What If) Time Warp? (Ninja High School/Gold Digger) Senryaku? (Shi) The entire run of Y The Last Man? Actually, one of the funner times I can remember are when the Fantastic Four are replaced. I really liked seeing Hulk, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and Spider-man form the new FF.
Who is your favorite hero/protaganist?
Ryouga Hibiki (Ranma 1/2) -- no wait, he was often the antagonist. Deadpool gets a nod, but can't take the prize. (It's something technical. Blame Spider-Man.) I always loved Steve Rogers (Captain America), the always-optimistic time-displaced tactician. Rally Vincent (Gunsmith Cats) perhaps is a better contemporary heroine.
Who is your favorite villain?
Ah, the Machiavellian pride and joy. I can't think of anyone in print that deserves this because Order of the Stick has Xyklon (and now Nale/Elan's father). I suppose Ultron (Marvel) would do in a pinch as he is more heartless than say Doctor Doom or Thanos or even The Adversary -- who can be mildly sympathetic at times. (Is the Red Skull healthy yet? Everyone hates bigots.) The other villain archetype I like are the sniveling overachievers (re: Starscream), but those aren't often found in comicbooks.
Who is your favorite comic writer? Who is your favorite comic artist?
I think I just ran out of space.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis. Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Great story! And it gave me hope that JLA would still be a great book after Morrison's departure from it. Unfortunately, that was the last great JLA storyarc until the Crime Syndicate story like 50 issues later.
And the story really made you see just how incredibly skilled, smart, and obsessed Batman really is.
