Good thing I got a PS3. Cheapest player out there, and if Blu-Ray lost the format war, it wouldn't really matter since I can still play games on it.

Well, I can invest in a PS3, and buy a cheap HD DVD player to toss on top of my Beta and Laserdisc player.

I work in retail selling these things and every Blu-ray player I've seen has been completely backward compatible with DVD. In fact with the upscaling they are capable of it will even make them look a little better than a regular DVD player would.

The whole Blu-ray vs HD-DVD has been something of a forgone conclusion for some time now. The store I work at has never ordered a HD-DVD player because we've known that it would die.

Calling people stupid for buying HD-DVD ain't right. Calling people stupid for buying HD-DVD because it has HD in the name is. Knock yourself out.

So I take it Sony is allowing adult entertainment on their media now? That was the only reason I was betting on HD-DVD winning.

doesn't matter... won't be buyin a blu ray or hd dvd player. Don't want to much garbage on my shelf.

The thing is, you all will need massive screens to be able to enjoy anything much better.
Do you all have projectors or 50+ inch plasmas in your homes?

i pretty sure blue ray just won the war because it has a cooler name. HD DVD had alot of good movie studios, it was cheaper, and it was the samequality picture as blue ray. i cant think of any other reason why it lost.. HD is HD both were 1080p
