how can i play japanese games on a us ps2?
I didn't know it played imports, but if HD Advance does... Then you could do the Independence Exploit to your memory card as an alternative to buying the HD Advance discs.
Atari 2600 (AV mod), NES, SNES (region switch for PAL), Virtual Boy, Gamecube, Wii (D2CKey), PSX (Stealth V), PS2 (independence exploit w/ 160 GB HDD), Goldstar 3DO, Philips CD-i, Dreamcast, Saturn (racketboy's chip), Sega Genesis 2 + CD2 + 32X + Power Base Converter, Game Gear.

I think your still going to need HD Advance (or HD Loader, etc) though to make the exploited memory card?I didn't know it played imports, but if HD Advance does... Then you could do the Independence Exploit to your memory card as an alternative to buying the HD Advance discs.

You could borrow it from a friend... or have someone else do the exploit for you. I've done the exploit for a few people on the forum. Just copied the file over from my mem card to theirs and had them get the same game I use.ImportBoy wrote:I think your still going to need HD Advance (or HD Loader, etc) though to make the exploited memory card?I didn't know it played imports, but if HD Advance does... Imports need to ripped on a PC (can use DVD Decrypter) and then FTPed to the PS2 using the HDAdvance PC software. You can't rip them from the PS2 itself.my fat ps2 and hd advance 3 doesn't play imports

I've got a slim playstation 2 and am interested in playing imports (right now for nights and sega ages 25). How do I check which version of the slim I have.
I don't mind spending the extra money to buy a modchip for my slim PS2, but as to the above I guess I need to know which version I've got. I know the modchip sites usually have a mini-tutorial on how to identify your system. Anyone got a reliable site they have used to buy mod chips.
If I go with the easy option of Swap Magic, is there a preferred version or anything?
