Your laser might be slowly dying. A used saturn is like $20, so you probably are better off buying another one.

I'm not sure if there is a Pot you can adjust to increase the laser power on Saturn. I'd imagine there is one, but I'd have to look.

You can always just try cleaning the laser as well. This has solved more Saturn issues than i can count.
I mentioned above I already replaced the laser assembly from another saturn to yield the same results.

Well, I'm stumped, and don't have much to offer but, have you tried taking out the mod chip and trying without it? Also, do you have another device in the Saturn (ARP, Gameshark, RAM cart, memory card, etc.)? I would try it without that as well. I would try to get the Saturn in its "purest" state, and see if that helps at all. I've also heard that a dying battery can cause some crazy issues (never experienced any myself), so I guess you could try removing or replacing that as well. If none of that helps, then it is probably a piece of hardware (memory registers, perhaps?) that needs replacing. I guess you could cannibalize your other Saturn and start swapping parts.

I know that you said this was the only game causing issues, but have you played many games since starting AO? Maybe if you go back and play other games, you will experience the same strange behavior.

I hope you find a solution to your issue. I'm surprised you have been this patient with this game. It is enjoyable and everything, but redoing some of those dungeons/battles can be quite taxing.

Good luck!

The only thing I ever have in my saturn is an official Ram cart. I tried it with and without but no difference. It has certainly taken a TON of my patience to get through this game but I am happy today to say I finally beat it today. I just bought a whole bunch of saturn games so as I start to play through them I will report back to the forum for any issues. I was thinking motherboard / memory registers as well but at that point i'd just purchase a new saturn though I have played through Three Dirty Dwarves in the past week with a friend in one sitting (~4-5 hrs) and not once did the saturn give me an issue. I have always kept it in a dry environment so there is no corrosion that I have seen on other used saturns. I'll see how the other games go.

I figured I would add another update. I have been playing through "Croc" for the past 2-3 weeks now as well with NO problems. Not sure what was going on with Albert Odyssey.

I was having some issues with Albert Odyssey too. Nothing as crazy as your problems but I was getting staticy sound on occasion. maybe the game is just buggy as hell?

That looks to be the case. Beat Earthworm Jim 2 yesterday and was fine all the way through.

:( This happened to me in castle FLONDIA. I was 2 hours into a game since last save and just was about to come up and fight the vampire and bam! battle failed to load all the way, just background and sprites :( I was so pissed. Spent alot of time leveling too since there was a healing source. boo!!!

I got a skeleton import saturn with an action replay cart. NTSC-U copy of the game though. Lets hope it doesn't do it again?

Well from what you've told us, I think it's safe to say that Albert Odyssey is just buggy. Oh well, at least you beat it!

Hi! How are you?.

I have problems too with my Albert Odyssey Original in my Saturn Model 2 with chip and 50/60hz mod.

I have a bug at the game beginning. When you push start and the intro ends, the first audio track that was played in the intro, plays again but only the sound, no imagen, like a loop and the game never starts!.

With some tries, the intro continue and I could play normally ...

Bugs??.
