Can't agree more with this. Lots of exciting PC titles are coming out all the time from ambitious independent developers.

I think consumers understand the difference between Paper Toss and God of War III, or Angry Birds and Super Mario Galaxy. What could be a problem is if people start to expect lower prices on the very high quality downloadable games that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have for sale on their respective networks, which I feel are of a much higher value than most of even the better smart phone games.

What would be AWESOME is if it kills the shovelware games that are polluting the Wii and DS libraries (and probably soon the PS3 Move and Kinect libraries) by lowering expected prices below the cost of publishing a physical game. Best industry threat evar.

I was thinking along these same lines. I can definitely see this happening.

If you think the Wii/DS library is full of shovelware, you clearly don't own an iphone/Android.

I do, and I'm well aware of the quantity of crappy apps ("crapps?") on both markets. However, while they pollute the online app stores, they're not taking up physical shelf space, and they cost FAR less than shovelware on a physical disk or card.
