I am thinking of buying myself a Wii for my birthday since a Zelda game is coming out. The is a few games which I intend to but but I would also like to play back ups, ideally from a USB drive/hard disc. I got a couple of questions:
1. Can all Wii's be modded? Is there some "unmoddable" model?
2. Softmod or modchip, which is better?
3. Which is the best video output: RGB or component or something else?
4. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Wii modding qustions.

Wii modding qustions.
Mostly harmless
Re: Wii modding qustions.
1. AFAIK all wii's can be soft modded
2. A modchip will only allow the drive to read burns, a softmod will allow you to run homebrew apps, including ones that boot games from a hard disk
3. RGB
4. Lots

I got a Wii and installed the Homebrew Channel. What next? What do I use to run:
1. Back ups?
2. Games from USB?
3. Import Gamecube games?

Isn't there a better place to talk about this? I mean, there are hundreds of sites online that make piracy easy for those who choose to do so... why not take your questions there instead? Or maybe look here instead of bringing up the same topic:Hateshinai wrote:I got a Wii and installed the Homebrew Channel. What next? What do I use to run:

The reason I love this website is that so many people here actually love video games (both old and new) enough to value actually owning them. Then again, considering how rarely I post maybe my opinion doesn't count for much.

Don't get me wrong, I fully intend to buy several games (Zeldas, Metroid, Marios and others I haven't thought about yet) but my wife wants a bunch of what can only be defined as crap, which is definitely not worth the money.
BTW, I managed to get the import GC games to run which is great since about 50% of my games are imports.

I don't mean to come off like such a jerk about it either. I understand that people have limited money and need to pick and choose where they spend. And I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of users at Racketboy are true lovers of gaming who support the hobby to the best of the ability (in numerous ways).Hateshinai wrote: Sorry.![]()

You know, sometimes just hearing similar questions over and over makes someone over-sensitive to a particular topic...
