Would it be possible to combine an Atari 2600 and a PS2? I really want to do this but I don't have an atari yet so I have no way to know if there's even enough room inside to house a ps2. I'm thinking that if I used a slim ps2 it would be able to fit in somewhere.
Is it a good idea or do you think that I'd run into any problems? Any other thoughts/comments?

Like "put together".
You know what I mean. Bring the two together into one console.
Of course, I don't know if your post was sarcastic or not. The internet doesn't handle conversational expressions/emotions too well.
I'm assuming it's possible as long as the Atari and PS2 components don't interfere with each other.

I prefer to keep my consoles separate and unmodded. But yeah, I imagine it's possible
Re: Atari 2600 combined with PS2: Possible?
Yes, definitely possible. It would just take a little bit of logic to detect whether there's a cartridge present and switch the AV accordingly. I bet the guys at AtariAge could tell you how best to do that.
Consider a 2600 Jr for sizes sake. You'll have to mount the switches for the 2600 somewhere on the PS2 case. It's probably possible to use the PS2 controller to control the 2600, with some tinkering, but separate ports would be much easier.
Actually, I just googled this and it's been done.

I wasn't being sarcastic. Wasn't sure if you meant put a PS2's innards inside an Atari's shell. Or vice versa. Or what.Opa Opa wrote:Like "put together".You know what I mean. Bring the two together into one console.

Oh... sorry man. I wasn't being very clear.noiseredux wrote:I wasn't being sarcastic. Wasn't sure if you meant put a PS2's innards inside an Atari's shell. Or vice versa. Or what.
Yeah I was thinking of putting a ps2 slim into an atari 2600 while keeping the atari functional.
Interesting... The way I was thinking of doing it is a little different but that certainly helps. Thanks for the link.Hatta wrote:Actually, I just googled this and it's been done.

An interesting mod but a lot of work unless you already have a lot of game carts. I prefer original equipment but instead of a mod because of space limitations, why not just use an Emulator for the big screen?
