it was just a MvC3 ad... I'm not really sure why that would bother you so much. It was pretty brief. Way briefer than the time spent attempting to block it anyway.

If there is no way for me to block the ad, I won't visit the site. One way or another, I won't view ads that I don't want to see. If I happen to see an ad, and actually understand what product is being advertised, I am less likely to buy that product, out of spite.

I wasn't going to buy MvC3 anyway but if I was, I would consider changing my mind.

The thing is, I like ads when I actually want to see them. For example, the FFIV trailer is an ad that I wanted to watch! I also like to check on the Minna no Nintendo channel on my Wii and watch ads there.

I never watch cable TV, nor do I go to the movie theater. The only kind of ad that actually gets through to me is the occasional giant billboard on the side of the road. I do my best to avoid looking at them. Damn real life popup ads. ><

It all boils down to being forced to do something that I don't want to do. I also hate wasting time.

that's kind of extreme man.

I mean if you know that an ad is trying to sell you something, you should be able to see the ad and make a decision on if you want the product or not.

I mean do you expect that companies would not attempt to advertise their products?

It's also kind of funny to me that you say you hate wasting time. Personally I would never go through great lengths to disable ads, because I'd find that a waste of time. (Apparently I'm right too, considering you weren't able to disable that MvC3 ad even after.... wasting the time attempting to.)

The amount of time I have spent avoiding/blocking ads is a drop in the bucket compared to the time I would have spent being annoyed by ads. For example, there are no ads of any kind on my Youtube, and a watch about an hour of it everyday.

Spending 5 seconds to add another url to my ad block list is well worth it. For the most part, the internet is completely ad free. Only occasionally will I need to add a new entry to ad block.

It's because I live in a 99% ad free world, that I get so surprised and upset when I see an ad.

How do you account for the amount of time you waste complaining about ads on a forum only tangentially related to the video you would like to see?

Just saying, your logic is not too sound.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

did some more research, and apparently it IS still a 2D-ish remake regardless of what the trailer looks like.

Yeah, it seems to be 2D with FMVs added in, like the Playstation port.

I like that a lot more than when I thought the trailer meant it was a 3D remake.

Well maybe not in terms of gameplay...
