Hello,

I bought mine from a Game-X-Change. you can find them quite cheap now on amazon or ebay, i think around 50 shipped or so.

Faxanadu, how is the mapping for the NES controls? Do they map to Y/B instead on the SNES pad?

Got it today. I can only play NES games atm, cause that's all I own (my brother has my childhood SNES

). However, the Retro Duo played all my NES games very well except for a small sound distortion which I would describe as tinny. The buttons on the controllers are indeed mapped out to y/b (b/a respectively) and they feel very nice other than the fact that they are somewhat light weight. The console itself is also light-weight compared to the similarly sized Wii that it sits next to, but it's not all that much different in weight from a model 2 SNES. Overall it seems to be a very good purchase and I plan on buying some games that would be incompatible on other clone systems (read Castlevania III and Super Mario RPG) but are said to work on the Retro Duo, that will be the final test in my eyes, but since everyone already tested it on the net I feel confident this is an excellent purchase for all retro enthusiasts.

p.s. I don't have s-vid on my TV here at my apartment but I plan on testing the SNES portion of the system and it's s-vid tomorrow when I visit my brother.

So where did you order from? eBay seller? Was the shipping quick?

I ordered my off ebay, buy it now for $38 plus $10 shipping from the seller the-video-queen, and it seems that they are still available. Oh, and shipping was really quick, just ordered it Tuesday.

Just grabbed one from the same seller! I can't wait to get it... now I got pick up some NES games.

By the way, did you get the Blue/White or the Black/Red console?

I got the white/blue because I like the look of the controllers better.

I tested the SNES and s-vid portions of the system yesterday and I can say they work very well, far better than even the NES portion (no sound distortion). The only game I noticed any differences with was StarFox where there was a small black border around the screen, however I can hardly complain given that most clone systems won't even play the game at all. The S-video seems sharp and clear so all of those worried about the quality of it your fears can be put to rest. Overall a very good buy for those looking to save space or simply save their beloved consoles from an early death.

p.s. I also tested the system with official controllers including the mouse and they all worked fine, now I just gotta find my old Super Scope!

I remember people saying there was "smearing" issues with the FC Twin, so I'm assuming those problems have been resolved with the Retro Duo?

I plan to keep my SNES Mini around for those games that have slight incompatibility issues. The pin set is going bad though as if the system moves even slightly while playing, the game will go to a blank screen. Also, the controller is starting to "squeak", if that makes sense. I wanted an NES anyway, so I figured with my SNES on the fritz, this would be a good purchase.

I have noticed no problems at all with the picture on either the NES or SNES parts, it seems to replicate them exactly.
