Apparently for Kenneth Cole still going on isnt too soon. At 1600 today, Kenneth Cole tweeted the following from his blackberry:

There's no "too soon" for this. Example: "The Nazis killed millions of people! Rumor is they heard our collection is worth killing for!"

Taking something as important as this and using to to sell your product is horrible. Fuck the asshole.

Meh. If people were half as outraged over companies that profit directly from foreign wars, there would be a lot more peace. Nothing a fashion designer could possibly say is anywhere near as bad as, say selling tear gas canisters to a foreign dictatorship.

I'm personally find the poor execution of the joke more objectionable than the topic matter. It's not funny because it's a bad joke, not because it's a taboo subject. Honestly, I encourage everyone to make jokes about any tragedy, just make sure they're good jokes.

This is just another case where appearances trump substance. KC appears disrespectful while doing absolutely nothing to affect what's going on in the region. On the other hand, the people in power who supported Mubarak, and profited off of his regime get very little condemnation.

Now would be a good time for the US to withdraw non-humanitarian aid from all non-democratic regimes.
