Are remakes of Metal Gear 1 & 2 worth 40 bucks?

Post by blue_veilvet »

Hi all,

at the moment I'm considering the purchase of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The main reason is that I would like to play the first two Metal Gear games, since I already beat the regular MGS3 and have little interest in all the other extra stuff contained in Subsistence.

Since the game is not exactly cheap on the aftermarket I would like to know if it is worth for the remakes of Metal Gear 1 & 2 alone?

Be sure its the original copy, since later on they actually removed the disk that the 2 games are in.

They aren't remakes, they're straight ports. It's also the only official way to get the games in english.

Personally I'd skip 2, it just didn't do much for me. As for 1 I'd recommend The Twin Snakes if you have a Gamecube or Wii instead, it's incredible.

Metal Gear Solid
A small disappointment in the Gamecube and possibly the HD remake is the loss of the voice accents. The PS1/Bleemed Dreamcast and the PC versions have that charm of the Chinese and British accents.

Yes, because Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 are NOT on the second disc of MGS3 Subsistence. Metal Gear 1 and 2 are different games.

Metal Gear 2 by the way is an incredibly impressive game for its age.

Team: You are slacking off.

There is no Metal Gear 2 unless you count Snake's Revenge, which you shouldn't.

If the OP wants to play MGS and MGS2, then I'd suggest bleemcast or "Twin Snakes" on the Crube (mispelling intentional) for MGS, and obviously MGS2 on the PS2.

Carry on.
