I'm probably best at large scale strategy games like Europa Universalis II, Rome Total War, and Civ III. Understanding the big picture is very easy for me and I can tell where momentum is among the other factions in the game and how best to exploit their weaknesses.

I'm a pretty well rounded gamer, however, I am absolutely terrible in most fighting games. :( Too bad, because they're awesome.

It's probably more of a meta-genre than a proper genre but for some reason if you put a Giant Mecha in it, I can play.
  • I suck at first person shooters. I rock the house at Gundam 0079 Side Story, a first person shooter with you as a mech pilot.

I am terrible at 3rd Person Shooters. I cannot get enough Armored Core.

With very few exceptions, SRPG's bore me. But Front Mission is the straight goods.
So if there is a giant robot in it, I will somehow find a way to be better than average.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I'm really good at point-n-click graphic adventures. The secret is to look up the solution on the internet.

I can beat every 3D platformer in existence that I've ever played, without very much trouble (even Jak 2), and I've never met a 16-bit RPG I couldn't beat with ease.

On the flip side, I've never been too good at RTS and TBS games, even though I love those genres.
