King of Fighters XII: Capcom, Eat Your Heart Out

Post by racketboy »

RyanDG delivers yet again with a wonderful breakdown of what we know so far:

Here's a quick link to the trailer:

Even with the mediocre video quality, I'm excited by what I'm seeing!

I need to see a better quality video to form an opinion.

As an admitted Street Fighter fan...I see nothing impressive about this, neither graphically nor gameplay-wise.

It looks pretty cool, but I would be hesitant to buy into the new one until I immersed myself into the older games, as I have been doing with Street Fighter (ok I owned SF2 as a kid but never got really into it or good at it, I was more of a Mortal Kombat person). Given the SNK vs. Capcom games I have been ineterested in the KoF games, so I guess bordering on the edge of going off-topic which KoF game would you say is best?

I too am hella excited about this game. I was just thinking to myself the other day that because Capcom didn't have the balls to make Street Fighter 4 a high definition 2D sprite fighter then it'd up to SNK to show them how its done. Judging by the buzz so far it looks to be turning heads.

Its funny because these two, long respected fighting franchises have gone seperate ways. Its like a battle between 3D and 2D. Awesome.

The sprites are said to be high definition anyone know how high that is exactly: 480, 576, 720, 1080?

Oh, this one looks quite happy. I can't tell for certain, but I've a hankerin' that this is what 2D done in 3D is supposed to look like. Quite nice.

Output will at least be 720p due to the Taito Type X2 hardware, but it does have the ability to go up to at least 1080p if they choose to. The standard cabinets the game will be on (the viewlix cabinets) will have a standard 720p LCD monitor though.

To tell the truth, I'm more excited for KOF XII than SF4 ever since the latter went 3D-ish and took out parrying.
