I am running Nvidia GeForce 9400m
I did run several live CDs back in 2005 to test out multiple linux distros
Biggest issue was that internet won't work wireless-ly
maybe things got better now
what is the standard browser used in the linux community?

Correct, Mozilla Firefox and Seamonkey is default in Linux.AppleQueso wrote:Firefox and Seamonkey I think

As for my OS, I currently am using Vista and occasionally Linux on another machine. Used to use XP, but the computer that had it bit the dust. Didn't want to keep pumping money into it for repairs constantly.

Hello? Tech support? I can't figure out how to edit my forum signature...

I've done some research and it's definitely possible to dual boot Mac OS and Linux but it's a bit tricky. Here's a guide that will help you and it's the best one I could find. "http://johnatilano.com/dual-boot-mac-os ... -on-a-macb" This should be good for both Linux Mint 10 as well as Linux Mint 9 KDE. If you want to read/write to files on OSX it uses the HFS+ file system and you need to turn off Journaling in OSX and install hfsprogs package in linux. I've copied the part from wikipedia below.
Wikipedia
The Linux kernel includes the hfsplus module for mounting HFS+ filesystems. HFS+ fsck and mkfs have been ported to Linux and are part of the hfsprogs package. The Linux HFS+ kernel driver has support to read and write to HFS+ non-journaled drives/parititions but only has read support of journaled HFS+. Journaling ability was added to HFSplus when OSX came out and is by default on for OS X installations. Journaling is a redundant behavior of a filesystem that helps protect data loss. If planning to write to an HFS+ partition then drive journaling must be turned off in OSX.
As for Internet Browsers I use Firefox maxed out with a ton of addons (90) and because of that some websites don't work so I also use Opera. Seamonkey is good for E-mail management however I've never used it because I do most of my E-mail through Gmail and everything else is done through my iPhone.
How are the LiveCDs going for you? Also I'll get back to you on your graphics card and for the Wireless it should just work (it works for me) but if it doesn't you have to use the Windows drivers through Ndiswrapper (Windows Wireless Drivers).

Re: What operating system are you running?
This... if they still sold XP... I'd buy it to install on a new PC. I run Windows 7 now... (upgraded from the HORRIBLE Vista that came with my PC... because sadly they stopped including XP on new PCs at the time...)General_Norris wrote:I'll give up XP when they take it from my cold, dead gaming mouse.

It's great! I dual boot Mint 9 (since it's LTS) and Windows 7. For a while though I had it as my sole operating system.kingmohd84 wrote:I got all the information I need, now I can just pick it up on my own from here

Windows 7, and i was the same as you, till i realized 7 was just a re-skinned XP.General_Norris wrote:I'll give up XP when they take it from my cold, dead gaming mouse.
