Quick Question about Downloaded PSP games

Post by TheyCallMeTheSwede »

Is there a difference between the physical UMD copy of the games and the Downloaded PSN Store games?

For the games? No, copies on the PSN should be identical to the physical copies, with the minor exception of a few games, like Monster Hunter used the European version on the PSN, as it offers more languages in the game.

Aside from the occasional bonus like a free OST download, the PSN is more or less of a rip off, especially when you factor in that some games do not come with the manual attached.

HOWEVER, if you are legit in buying games, and live with a large number of people with PSPs, you can save when buying games by dividing up the cost, as all PSN purchases can be legally put on to 5 different PSPs. Like me, I bought Phantasy Star Portable 2 for $40 on the PSN, gave copies to my bro and sis for $10 each, cost me $20 for a new game. Works for me.
If you aren't having a good time, why are you playing?

The good thing about PSN downloads is once you bought it, you can download it up to 5 different consoles, unlike DSi Ware of Virtual Console which are locked by consoles.

One obvious thing between PSN and UMD is the lack of physical materials - no case, and no manuals - thou some PSN games have manuals that you can look at under the XMB menu.

Was there any improvements like load times? I have herd that Metal Slug plays better when you download it vs. using the UMD version. Maybe thats just me.

I would HOPE there are better load times on the download compared to the UMD. I mean, there is no optical media to load stuff and scan it. I would think it would be like playing a cartridge vs a CD. Minimal to no load times at all.

That is true for the most part, as the game can be read from the memory stick, instead of loading it from the UMD.
