It's my understanding that EBGames merged with Gamestop back in 2005. Why does EB Games still exist? I would have thought that they would have converted all of the stores to Gamestop by now. Is this still there intent but they haven't had the time/money to change them all yet?
Are there any areas where there's an EB Games store and a Gamestop? Or is it one or the other? I know in Mass, there are no EB Games around.
Why hasn't EBGames switched over to Gamestop?

Apparently there's still one in Ann Arbor Michigan. I know all of them in my area have become Gamestops.

I had read through the Gamestop/EB Games wiki entries but it didn't explain why some locations still exist. ebgames.com & gamestop.com are essentially identical with some minor logo differences.

There's still four or five EB games within ten miles of me as well as about ten Gamestops. I actually never understood how there were so many game stores around me that all sell the same shit. The EB stores just have the "powered by Gamestop" branding all over the place and are the exact same store as Gamestop when you walk inside. I think they just don't feel like finishing changing them all the way at this point. Maybe Gamestop thinks it helps them look less like a monopoly or something.

Ahh, so that's Illinois & Michigan that still have some EB Games stores. Yeah, I agree that I don't understand why they haven't closed out some stores. In Nashua, NH, there are two Gamestops in the same mall (Pheasant Lane Mall) which is a medium sized mall. I understand why they exists in the first place (one was probably Electronics Boutique and the other was Babbage or something like that). Just across the street, there's another Gamestop. If I were an exec running that company, I would close at least 1 of the 3 locations and possibly 2 if the numbers make sense.
In Burlington, MA, there are 3 Gamestops within a mile of each other. One is in a mall. Another is across the street and still another is down the road. I mean, maybe expand one of the locations to make it bigger and close the other two? Or maybe keep the mall location since teenagers seem to like the malls.

The big Woodfield mall in Schaumburg IL had an EB and Gamestop in it at the same time iirc. It might still but I'm pretty sure they closed one. I always just chalked that up to the mall being rather large but still didn't quite understand. Although I know many places around here where Gamestops are right outside of malls which have Gamestops in them. I've always wondered why they didn't just go for a couple big Gamestops around here rather then a whole bunch of tiny ones.

In BC, even tho they're owned by Gamestop, they are all EB Games. I haven't seen any Gamestop branding on their stuff even.

It makes sense if you think of it from Gamestop's point of view. Some customers don't know that EB Games is owned by Gamestop, so they may be more likely to shop there.
